...luck doesnt factor into it, goldfish are difficult to keep in aquariums because they need a river environment...
every advice site online gives advice about looking after them, yet i only follow about a half of what is said by the pros - as regular water changes can be as bad as no water changes if done at the wrong time. the fish also need to be able to scavenge regularly every day to be happy, they are kind of like cows needing to graze.
