I had the honor and privilege to serve with a veteran of that campaign in the late 70s/early 80s. Even as a veteran of Nam he was a hero to us young Marines. I later served on Okinawa and saw some of the places my fellow Marine fought over.
This is a wonderful photo. We are strong, we are unyielding but we are still just human and there are few things more tragic than the loss of a comrade whom you have walked the roads of hell with.

Terrible scene. But the colorization is beautiful, especially on the skin, uniforms and vegetation.
