Description This is only the second proper piece of work I have done this year. I think I might cry.

Aaanyway. Another Avenger commission, this time the Hulk because I'm a coward and didn't want to attempt Thor's terrifying facial hair.

Done on Bristol Board in Graphite Pencils. Probably took about 18 loong hours.

Wow, amazing pencil work! I'm so afraid of traditional media where there's no unlimited undo

The details is pretty sharp and realistic. I think you've done an excellent job considering the fact I'm not a fan of the Hulk

*pounces* I've missed you! And your art.

Lol, facial hair's definitely a challenge to draw, even moreso in colour, getting all those shadows and individual strands and aaaargh. But this is great, you've got a really nice variation in the different tones and highlights here. Did you just use the same pencil or different types?

D: I've missed you too. Sorry, I'm having such a hard time at the moment. I will try to be here more often.

Arrggh beards! Noo! Why?!
Thank you! I think I used 7B, 5B and 3B. (I hope thats what you meant xD) They're the ones I use for pretty much every drawing so they're super short and the others have barely been used. Its not good. These are high level artist problems right here.

You're not off school yet?

Long beards are ok, 'cause then it's just like drawing regular hair. It's when they're stubbly or short they're a problem.

Yeah, that's what I meant. And yeah, art materials are expeeeensive.

Oh yeah, I have been for ages.

And then to make it worse they have a moustache attached. O__O

There are lots of really expensive art shops in Manchester. I don't even dare to go in anymore, I just stand at the window and stare longingly. Why can't running be my hobby? Thats free.

Stubble!moustache *shudders*

You could try ordering online, it's usually cheaper.

Admittedly I haven't tried shopping for art stuff online before, but stuff online usually IS cheaper. Although you gotta look out for shipping costs.

The only other problem with shopping online is you can't show off your shopping bags as you wander around xD

DominiqueDuong In reply to OliveArtOlive [2013-08-03 20:22:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's not the same as actually browsing a shop and seeing the products for yourself, examining them. Although I buy pretty much all my books online or in charity stores now (cheap-cheap), I still enjoy going around bookstores and examining the wares, even if I hardly ever buy anything. It's fun browsing

OliveArtOlive In reply to DominiqueDuong [2013-08-04 13:17:44 +0000 UTC]

Same! I loove old second hand bookshops. But then you walk into somewhere like Waterstones and start sobbing because they are all brand new and beautiful and so goddamn expensive. Whhy?
So you trundle off to somewhere else and buy 4 cute tatty ones for the same price. Gah books. Theyre so great xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DominiqueDuong In reply to OliveArtOlive [2013-08-04 20:46:00 +0000 UTC]

Exactly ._. The only bad thing about visiting Waterstones, everything's expensiiiive. If you're after a specific book you can usually find it, but yeah, costly. Charity shop books are cheap, but it's a lot harder to find something specific.

But whoo for the discovery of online shopping. So you can browse a bookstore to your heart's content but get the same item later at bargain prices.

OliveArtOlive In reply to DominiqueDuong [2013-08-05 14:33:45 +0000 UTC]

It's a shame, cause I love the feeling of new books. *Gropes books*

And there's nothing better than getting a package in the post! xD

DominiqueDuong In reply to OliveArtOlive [2013-08-05 19:50:19 +0000 UTC]

Same! That's why I'll always love paper books over e-books. You can feel them, turn the pages, admire pretty covers <3

Yeah! That's always something to look forward, and I like getting mail anyway XD
