Me too, but that was because he startled me and I thought I had to fight him, like Zevran. I was kind of worried about his hand-to-hand skills.

Ah it completely slipped my mind to just write feedback here! That was silly haha. But anyway...
The combination of masculinity and elegant fluidity was just one of the things that drew me to this piece. The way you varied the width of your strokes, as well as the economy with which you applied them... all in all, they really animate him in a quiet way that makes this piece feel even more intimate. Really beautiful drawing!

The depressing thing about this image is that it took probably less than 30 effective minutes, probably since I never expected it to turn out well, just wanted to try a new way to draw. I was mighty surprised when this became a favorite of so many. But when I look at it now I see that your comments could be the exact reason. Thank you so much for taking the trouble.

I love all of it...the beard (simple, yet manly), the eyebrows (somehow thoughtful) and the overall watercoloury look it has. oh, and I'd die for that hair...

That's a very nice portrait of Riordan. It's a shame that there was so little of him in the game because he looked like a truly interesting character - so I'm glad you and Gaspode are telling us more about him and Duncan!

I was actually writing an Alistair/Cousland story and suddenly this strange contradictory guy was there, complete with a past. Luckily I found Gaspode who fills in all blanks when I fail. I'm enormously pleased that you like both the story and the image. Thank you so much!

looks like markers and watercolour. he looks great, as usual of course! ; ) the watercolour/marker style does make me think more 'modern' than the textured/pencils. his armor almost reads as a leather jacket. interesting.

It was great fun! I'll have to try some similar pencils. I need one that is really thin at the ends but thick in the middle. I made the armor dark to get contrast to his face, and seriously, what rogue has a pinkish armor... But I realise now that he looks a bit like a 'biker'. That could suit him I think

do you have links to these brushes? and what one did you use for the beard and how did you get the edges so sharp?

I used some of these [link] (background) but mostly I used PS standard brushes, Just changed size and direction from time to time (to get the squarish edges). The beard is actually a leftover from the background. I used a round eraser and realised it would make great stubble. Don't forget to use layers, and SAVE fixations!!

Very nice! Yes this would work great with the comic pages. There is one little 'scribble' on his upper lip that keeps drawing my eye and I can't get my head around it. Is it a sneer, a scar...?
I love this flowing style and the texture is really nice, is it Photoshop standard?
As always you make him look so sweet and huggable. My versions always comes out sly and slightly evil.

Never see any good Riordan pictures. I love how you drew him younger. I'd assume a Blight would make the Wardens age faster due to the taint and the nightmares.

Yup, definitely comic-book like. I looked at him though and initially thought he was wearing a black leather jacket. Very "Rebel Without a Cause" in appearance. It sort of fits his persona...
