Seeing this battle in Blu-Ray is simply magical.
Our Host does right by the neon-esque pallet of the sequence.

How big a display can you get for the experiment? As much of an at-the-movies feel you can get, the better.

You should love it, then.
Also get Star Trek, The Slow-Motion Picture on Blu-Ray as well. Blu-Ray makes all the beauty shots simply stagger, and the commentary track's description of how they executed the travelling shots through the V-Ger cloud will amaze you.

After waiting MANY years for anything Star Trek, especially after seeing Star Wars: A New Hope, I was positively elated when Star Trek: The Motion Picture finally hit the big screen.
Some people like to pick on it for its problematic aspects, but for me it was sheer art and more importantly a revival of Gene Roddenberry's space adventure that had a chance to reimage what we only saw years before on TV tubes.
It put a tear in my eye to see the USS Enterprise redone, more magnificent than ever... In fact, the NCC-1701 is still hands down my favorite starship.

- It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only. --

Kirk: "Message, Spock?"
Spock: "None that I'm conscious of. Except of course; happy birthday! -Surely the best of times."

Joachim: They're still running with shields down.
Khan: Of course! We are one big, happy fleet! Ah, Kirk, my old friend, do you know the Klingon proverb that tells us revenge is a dish that is best served cold?
[pause]
Khan: It is very cold in space!
