Description Ok, this will be my last post for today!
Yet be sure that more will come as time goes by.
Some of you wanted to know how I made these little pics so here's the whole story:
I use Poser 5, from CuriousLabs (www.curiouslabs.com). It's a soft that deals with human or animals cgaracters, simply to use, the thing for dummies, really! I would say that, like Bryce, it's easy to do pretty things very quickly with it. Though, if you want to more than a quicky ready made pic with no originality then you'll need to work hard just like in any kind of software.
I use Victoria 3, a character developped by Daz3D, a company that sell content for Poser. V3 is a wonderfull character, she has many many morphs to play with for any parts of her anatomy (I say any).
Here, in this particular render, I used my own texture made for her in photoshop, based upon photos of models, bought in Renderosity.
It took me a very long time to aschieve this result.
So to conclude, Poser is great but is full of trick, due to the tons of ready made things that are available for it. Many Poser users (and I don't call them Artists as they do, just like I don't for myself) do pics very poor of originality, full of composition lighting or pose errors, because they rely on presets and avoid to do the most important thing: the work!

Everything is amazing but the hip/legs angles don't match with the back/waist ones so movement looks forced and artificial, if that's the purpose then it's okay.
If the objective was for it to look 100% REAL, it doesn't work.

Nice pic. Although you are tough not calling users of Poser "not artists" - so does that make anyone who doesnt get the lighting/poses etc correct, not an artist?
- That would be most of us!!
Just because Poser makes things easier, doesnt mean its not art - what about photography?
To me, art is about the creation of an idea in any medium - not just what makes a mark on paper.
Cheers

I didn't know Poser could do such photorealism.
And the morphs seem to be excellent.

Very nice work with the white light from the other side. And the soft light on the back is wicked as well.

Well, have a look at Catharina Harders work: [link]
You'll be amazed by the realism she puts in her renders.

I really like this render! I'm not a 3-d person, so I hope you'll forgive what may be unfixable nitpicks...

Real humans have different textures on their butt than on their back, on their back than on their breasts, and so on -- generally the butt and breasts are lighter-colored and have smoother skin, unless you have stretch marks or collagen! The back is darker and more textured... generally thicker skin has deeper color but more texture, and thinner skin has lighter color, is smoother, and the veins show through (also most people have tan lines, but that's another story). The texture seems to be all one-and-the-same and stretches weirdly over her butt, and she's all the same color!

Like I said, I don't know if that's fixable! Hehe! So don't hurt me

And yeah, if I'm willing to go "ow!" I can get in that position, and do when I stretch... so maybe you just caught her stretching, eh?

Olivier050670 In reply to kalany [2005-02-19 09:20:20 +0000 UTC]

Hey, no need to be in 3D stuffs to have a good opinion! You prove it by the way.
Yes, you're totally right about the non uniformity of skin. It has different thickness, bumps, reflections/highlights and tones according to the parts of the body. About the streching effect on her butt, it's a problem that comes from the the UV mapping, I guess. But I remember that I used a blur tool on it too while postworking to give a focal effect so it may be due to this too... Another point is that when the skin is unstrectched like at the botton of her bak, the skin should make some ripples and should be darker.
I think I will gain in realism when I'll manage to consider all theses parameters together in my material settings.
I thank you for this help, it is much appreciated!
Take care!
(you see: I don't bite! )

It is really well done and beautiful.
I don't like to use poser as a main thing, but I do create models for reference [I paint them for practice], or I use them in photoshop and deal with them as I would deal with a photographic stock, manipulating them.

Wow! Truly amazing Poserwork, can't believe it was actually rendered with the builtin poser renderer :S
I, as a fellow poser user (one of those lazy ones ) am TRULY impressed!

Olivier050670 In reply to ibis [2005-02-06 17:14:27 +0000 UTC]

Ah, dear Ibis, if I can do it, you can do it too. I don't click on my mouse in a particular way you know!
Seriously, there's nothing but work and reflection about lights and materials. No more. Anyone can do it with the proper settings and materials. But if I gave you those, you wouldn't be more able to do something else. Find your way and always remember that only work pays.
Thanks for your kind comment.

Great work, I lvoe the details, however the only thing is where the bend is of her back is a little off. It's pulled in too far to be tricked into that's it's actually a person rather then a computer gal. Remember her spines there LOL* She almost looks like one of those half lion half human things. Good though
