The palette of this work - muted night colors - drew me at first. Then the opalescent skin of the creature behind the glass. her impossibly red hair, liquid blue cat-eyes. Then I looked at the composition, and love how the piece opens for you so that you must inevitable fall into her and pass between her bloody talons to her deadly lips. My impression changed from an abstract creature looking out from a stylized forest to some immortal creature trapped, perhaps in a glass coffin, while the fallen leaves bury her (un)alive. Whatever the artists intent, the piece radiates immortality and malice in a startlingly direct way and alluring way, much like an old fairy tale.

Huh.. Even though she doesn't make me think mermaid so much as beast tamer or druid due to the border. I love that you broke away from the "traditional" little mermaid style and made her your own.. and holy cow does she look beautiful in a feral, predatory way. ^.^ I am currently working on a project for personal use only where I remake certain magic cards and your version of Ariel would be perfect. Would it be okay for me to use this piece? I can show you the card when I finish it up so you can see how it turned out. Thanks, no matter what your answer for showing this piece off.

there is something really indescribably sexy about this, i think it's the eyes, they really pull you in and the hint of light around the hair softens some of that sinister aura around her and it's just simply amazing work, truly fantastic!
