Nice flow in the picture too, with the whole eye path going from the candle around the ghost to the guy's face. Uuuh I am not very articulate but it is good!

This is a good question IT WILL BE EXPLAINED. But the short answer being he isn't actually a mermaid lol. He's a Rusalka! Which is a ghost in folklore that comes about when somebody dies from drowning.

Some things are getting a little too close to each other, like the boy's hand in the upper left, and the ghost's tail to the face in the lower left. But besides that I really like this! The color pallet is really nice, it definitely says "ghosty" to me. And the presents of red in the piece is nice, it shows up in this diagonal way. The way they are all positioned also brings me back around in a good circle, I don't really get stuck anywhere.
I did have a hard time reading the candle as a candle at first, but I think some brighter highlights on the handle will fix that, a pretty easy fix. Is this the twin ghost story you were telling me about? I'm exited to see stuff for it!
And that better be a fucking mermaid ghost, I might pee my pants if it's not >8(
