How could I forget to update this? A couple days after Mechwarrior was announced I made this wallpaper from the images off of IGN.download to see the full size. It's only in 1280x800.
Let us all remember what the Warhammer looked like, lest it be removed from the game.
Edit: Let us all hope it makes it into MWO.

i find it funny that robotech put up a hissy fit when they saw the design.....didnt they have like 15 years to nitpick at mechwarrior?

Its sad this doesn't get made. All they would have had to do was avoid the designs that are legally controversial, and we could have had an awesome new game that continued the series into the future. Now everything is just silent limbo.

To be fair, they had all legal rights to use the designs they had. Also, Piranha was working on the new Duke Nukem game. Hopefully once that's out of the way we'll hear more about the new MechWarrior.

Yeah it will be removed from the game or worst the game release will be canceled if they made to much progress. With the game.

They could just remodel it. It's not like the game was finished when the video came out. We'll just have to wait and see.

was a complete ripoff from robotech.

Don't get me wrong, I like both Robotech and Battletech, but I wouldn't say the 'mechs were ripoffs, not with intent, anyway.
A lot of people don't know the real background of the classic 'mechs. The Warhammer, Marauder, Rifleman and the lot of them were licensed, but from a different company from Harmony Gold, who didn't create them in the first place.
In the mid '90s Harmony Gold tells Fasa, the creators of Battletech, that they can't use the 'mechs. Fasa, stupidly, goes, "we have the rights, buzz off." Harmony Gold then sues them and the two settle outside of court. But, the 'mechs have since been reimagined in the table top game. They have to be at least 20% different in their outside appearance from the originals. I can't tell for sure, but the Warhammer in the video looks about 20% different. Maybe change a few more things and it will pass. Time will tell.

Yeah like the long guns and the missile rack they need the change. But they have made different designs. Theres the wharhamer
and the wharhamer IIC
And theres a murader

and a murader IIC. The 2's and IIC's where created for this reason.

Yes, but this is 3015, so you can't really use the II or IIC variants. And the long guns and missile rack don't have to be completely changed or anything. That's part of what made the Warhammer what it is.
Besides, the IIs and IICs were made well before the lawsuit.

Well mektek will be releasing mechwarrior4 for free. So that will hold you over for the next three years intell the game comes out.
