Description A little something as a warm up for Mecha Master's FrankenMech contest.

The Tiger Shark is a 60 ton heavy BattleMech built by Clan Diamond Shark (now Sea Fox) to replace the aging Thresher and Predator BattleMechs. Like its predecessors it has a maximum speed of 86 Km/h and can sprint at speeds around 108 Km/h thanks to the use of MASC. Ten tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor give it 95% of the maximum protection, better than both the Thresher and the Predator.

Armed with a Gauss rifle, two heavy medium lasers, two ER small lasers, and a 10 tube missile system, the Tiger Shark's weapon configuration is reminiscent to the Inner Sphere Dragon. To compensate for the heavy lasers' inaccuracy, and to improve firing on the move, all the direct fire weapons are linked to an advanced targeting computer. The use of thirteen double heat sinks ensure that the Tiger Shark can keep cool while firing all of its weapons.

With the success of the Tiger Shark, Clan Diamond Shark developed a second variant that took the 'Mech in a different direction. The Tiger Shark 2 mounts a larger engine giving it a new top speed of 96 Km/h. Although slower than the sprint speed of the original, it no longer runs the risk of the MASC overloading the myomer muscles. A new ECM suite gives it the ability to ambush targets and disrupt C3 networks.

To compliment its new top speed and ambush set up, the Tiger Shark 2 uses a large pulse laser and two ER medium and small lasers along with a six tube advanced tactical missile system. Again, the lasers are tied to a targeting computer to make the accurate large pulse laser even more likely to hit.

Both models of the Tiger Shark surprised Clan and Inner Sphere warriors alike for its great firepower, speed, and armor protection mounted in such a small frame. However, the design is not without its flaws. It lacks the jump jet capabilities of its predecessors, and its XL engine makes it too costly to field in large numbers. Critics have also pointed out that a new medium 'Mech could have easily filled the role of the Tiger Shark.

Despite the criticism, and due to the success of the design on the battlefield, Clan Diamond Shark is looking into developing an export model to sell to both Clan and Inner Sphere buyers, as well as a jump jet enabled model to help defend their space fleet.

Nicely done! He reminds me of an pumped-up Sentinel but with a lot nicer weapons platform.

I am always impressed when people write such intricate backstory and stats. I can't do that.
