With the introduction of Lechonk, it looks like Game Freak decided to break the trend of the Route 1 Normal type Pokemon being strictly a rodent or a rodent-adjacent animal.
To follow that, I changed my Route 1 Normal type from a Rodent to a marsupial! Specifically, a Tasmanian Devil, which works as a redesign and repurpose of my old Fire starter Headel that got replaced by Pinchar.
Compared to Headel, I kept Gnawvil’s design pretty simple as all Route 1 Pokemon tend to be, with coloration that hints at its evolution's type.
My idea is that the hypothetical “game” that features the Feroa region starts on an island equivalent to Tasmania, and this line would only be found on this island, making this line quite rare relative to other route 1 mons.
