Description
There was some talk of doing a fan film with a friend. His brief requested four visually distinct designs, different from what had been done before, grounded in reality. I chose species that matched both their personalities, and in some way retained bandana coloration in their shin tones.If you like this, it's part of a series:

. I've used the "TMNT and other Strangeness" RPG from Palladium as a guide for the about at the bottom.If you're feeling retro or nostalgic, I've included a link to TMNT & Other Strangeness . It can make for a fun rainy day with friends
I also created a series of designs for an all RES (Leo design) Team. In the end it didn't matter, the film fell apart, as 95% of fan films do

Wow, this is freaking super duper shell-yeah awesome work! This is wonderful beautiful art showing a lovely variety of the beloved terrapins mutated, though with them remaining more animal-like.
The furry (and scaly) world should be proud of you for doing such a service for the Ninja Turtles. The pets they once were are now man (well man-like) with correct coloring and markings for each.
You get a big shiny metallic gold star from me for putting in their tails (so many do not put in their tails). I am very happy you kept their claws and digits like real turtles as they are supposed to be. Males have long claws and tails, you did it right.
Each species you picked for each Turtle highlights him in his own special way. Raph being dark and rough looking as a box turtle, Mikey's happy bright and colorful marking are fitting as he is a clown, Leo is handsome sporting his red markings as a red ear slider (where I think Eastman and Laird got the idea for all red masks in the beginning), and Donnie all silver like real diamonds and just as precious being a diamond back (nice how you made him taller like the 2012 series).
You definitely made my favorite shelled dinosaurs (I believe that turtles were dinos too, they definitely have that sharp dino reptile look that is very adorable) even more awesome than they already are.

I think there is something just intrinsically beautiful about Trachemys Scripta Elegans, specifically the melanistic ones (sorry -that's ultra nerdy!) that just scream "ninja".
My first attempt wasn't well liked, and I've been trying to improve on that for some time. My gallery is now full of TMNT art, mostly rough sketches, chasing the elusive goal of the "perfect" design, if their is such a thing.
I have some obsessive need to "get it right", and I still don't think that I have, but your critique lets me know I'm at least communicating my ideas, and that's really great! Maybe someday I'll get the images in my head onto the canvas. Can't say it's happened as of yet.
As for what's next, I've partnered with a friend to create A.T.M, a comic book miniseries, which we will release by Summers end. In my down time, I'll be sketching more turtles, chasing that ever elusive dragon

Not bad, though if these were "official designs" from a studio in any capacity, hardcore turtle fans would probably be baying for your blood...amongst other vital bits of your anatomy.

Good points, and I didn't mean to come across as snooty. I was just stating what usually happens when fandoms get a hold of anything that deviates from either their own personal ideal or the "agreed-upon" ideals (more like commandments) of the fandom. It's like they keep yelling "WE WANT MORE ORIGINALITY IN THIS SERIES/FANDOM!" but the moment they actually GET that original idea/concept, suddenly it becomes "HOW DARE YOU CHANGE THIS BELOVED PROPERTY! PREPARE TO DIE!!!1111!!!!" Frickin' hypocrisy man.

This is fantastic. Much as I love the turtles' iconic green look, I always prefer to have them all be visually distinct in some way other than their weapons and headbands. This is also why I so greatly enjoyed the controversial Michael Bay designs. Fantastic work, dude.

I always prefer April in the flat boots since it's cartoon accurate, and apparently heelless white boots are a very rare thing since just about every cosplayers who dresses up as classic April chooses to wear either the high heeled go-go boots or create some custom footwear.
More evidence April is an imaginary character drawn by a magic crystal powered pencil? hehe
That said, I think you pull off the heeled boot look very nicely too. If you put her in flats, I suppose it would maker her look a little shorter on the height charts though.

Donatello's design seems a little overkill to make him different from the other three.

It has taken me while you are showing different types of turtle which is very informative. I also recall Donatello having a different color in Turtles in Time when selecting arcade style.
This is the reason I am hesitant but I did see a few turtles in an effort for giving worthwhile advice. The false map turtle aka sawbuck turtle do work with other turtles and be look out. The Eastern Mud Turtle aka common turtle is small, known to live by hiding and is common turtle therefore more likely to be a pet.
It is a shame to see your white turtle being in the reject pile because as I said before it does grab attention. I am looking at diamondback terrapin in Wikipedia. Their face looks like a mask when looking at their body. Did I have right diamondback?

You remind me a song a song black and yellow. I hate that song but that would most likely be used for meme on Michelangelo. I remembered a yellow turtle in Fast Forward spin off but it was barely used
I have been thinking about the future of the different versions of the turtles with your added details. There have been a lot of versions of the turtles in the past. Your style will be right next to different assorted color head bands for making an era. It offers an educational lesson of the turtles making it very beneficial. It also can be use to decide the favorite toppings for their pizza.

Well, if you've learned something about turtles, then that's great! I'm an animal lover at heart, and it thrills me when i can share my love of the natural world with others, and perhaps get them interested in the natural sciences as well.
