Country drivers are bad enough here. I don't think I could handle the traffic of a larger city such as yours. Never a traffic jam here.

Ha! As I've told a friend of mine: "I'm fucking sick of redneck drivers in their macho trucks who think they know how to drive in the city. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. You wanna play games on the road with me? Fuck you. The closest thing to traffic you've ever seen is a herd of cows in the fucking road. I'll show you what offensive driving is, motherfucker."

What's amusing are city dwellers who buy those macho trucks, with no practical purpose in mind. Well, overcompensating for something.
Honestly, I'm surprised rednecks venture anywhere near Los Angeles. is there even a rural area in that city?
And speeding down country roads at night is very tranquil to me. Unless there's a deer ahead.

Not really rural areas in the city, of course, but it's surrounded by desert and mountains that could pass for Devil's Rejects territory.
Even here, our deserted road nighttime speeding is hardcore. The best place here for such a past time is in the ultra-upscale neighborhood of Palos Verdes- and the roads there have few streetlights, are composed of mostly hairpin turns and blind curves, and the entire route is only one rickety guardrail away from a straight drop off a rock cliff into the Pacific ocean. I have friends who have done that route at a more than unreasonable speed, late at night, while stoned as fuck. Dunno how they made it out alive, actually.

I wouldn't think of an upscale area as appropriate for nocturnal speeding. In this region, the upscale areas have cops -- asshole cops (I've been pulled over three times, & followed several times).

Palos Verdes has cops, but not nearly as many as surrounding areas. Probably because the houses are kind of far apart, all set far back from the road, it's a very quiet area. The residents might also find police presence to be unsightly; it wouldn't surprise me. But I know they're around somewhere- just don't get caught, that's all. lol
