i was so surprised today! i was sticking my hand in the cage to put the food down, and she brought one of her babies out and dropped it in my hand, so i could see it, then when i gave it back, she just took it back to the nest and continued with suckling them!!!

All baby hamsters should be left alone, otherwise, the mother hamster will get defensive and eat them. That happened to a bunch of Dwarf hamster babies my baby sister had, and it was sad.

i do hope these babies are okay, you really should not touch them or disturb the nest until they are about 2 weeks old i think. they shouldn't be moved/held before their eyes are open and their fur has developed because the mother is very likely to reject the litter and kill the babies if the babies smell different.

It's ok since they are Dwarf hamster and not Syrians. But i do show them to the mother while i pick some up! She totally welcomes them back from my hand!
She's quite silly though, every time i hold a baby and return it, she always licks my hand as if she thinks that, I too, am her baby!
Thanks for warning me anyway!!!
