Description An attempt at unorthodox fan-art

Based heavily on 's character, Mischief, a "Freckle Shark". Here's her reference sheet: [link]

This character's vivid colors captivated me (which is heavily biased because I'm partially colorblind and prefer bright colors over darker ones). I'm jelly, I wish half the stuff I drew could be as bright and fun as this. The background was found on Google, it's not mine. I thought it would add to the concept car feel.

Take it from Chevy, cool sharks make cool cars. Proof in the Corvette Stingray Makoshark concept: [link] Through this car probably has a killer amount of down force.

Anyways, Done entirely in Ballpoint Pen cause I'm poor with a background Paint-shopped in.

Mischief is 's

That's one large shark eye. .____.
I'll agree, cool shark. And cool car.

This one must have been really hard to draw in that it's rare when you see cars pointed at this angle drawn.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Opengunner In reply to OceanRailroader [2011-10-23 17:03:45 +0000 UTC]

I usually draw all of my cars in this angle, so the angle wasn't the problem...

It was trying to incorporate feature's of a humanoid character into a car. And choosing the colors

Damn, i wish 900 people had something to say to me. So many opportunities for smart ass remarks

I get like maybe 5 messages every 3 days on here. And they're all from the same people, which is like 3, that's it.

As for pics, I get a lot too.

I look at all of them but I don't have enough witty things to say about 300 different pics, so I rarely comment.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-Rukario In reply to Opengunner [2011-10-28 22:52:04 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's cus they're either clubs or stuff by friends, which can add up after a bunch of days.
Still, the fact that they update so much is freakin' nuts. xD
And yeah, most I never really check. Meh. :/
Hehe, no kiddin'. I kinda get how you feel when it comes to reviews now. Hell, it's rare I leave a comment in the first place, oddly enough.

Opengunner In reply to Shadow-Rukario [2011-10-29 02:41:47 +0000 UTC]

I leave a comment when I feel like I have something funny/witty/ or informative.

Most of the times, pictures don't leave room for that.

And I don't know how too many people that will respond positively to my humor. It's somewhat rude and I don't crack jokes around people I'm not comfortable around.

This is why we need a sarcasm format or something not (/sarcasm) lol. x3
Haa, then I suppose my pics leave lots of room for comments, ne? :3
Hm, I usually only leave comments when I really, really like a work or have a joke on hold. Not much, otherwise.

~Shadow R/B
Encouragements are more common from me. =w=

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Opengunner In reply to Shadow-Rukario [2011-10-30 17:35:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I'm not encouraging in the least bit.

It comes with the smartass trade.

I take an unorthodox approach to commenting because just hearing people say "ur getting better keep going" really gets dull.

I dish out the funnies because a joke displays a greater appreciation for what the art is, could be, and what its missing.

plus, it's always for the lulz.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-Rukario In reply to Opengunner [2011-10-30 21:16:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, no kiddin'~
Well, it's better than being for the evulz, isn't it? xD
Still, I get whatcha mean. A joke's way more thought out than a, "Congrats, a winner is you!" kinda message, yeah?
Tho, to be fair, I don't really get many people that praise my work in an average way. They always point some things out, so that's always good, ya know? Helps to improve my art or at least my mood. :3

~Shadow R/B
Always good. :3

Opengunner In reply to Shadow-Rukario [2011-10-30 21:25:27 +0000 UTC]

lol most of the people I know crack jokes about my art as well.

It's just kinda normal to not really take art very seriously around here.

Art is a serious ordeal, but if you're trying too hard to be serious or emotional, it loses some aspect of its humanity.

Thus comes the term: "Try-Hard"

Man, my art class is amusing as hell, tho there's a few people almost failing since they aren't taking it seriously.
And wouldn't cha know it, I have Art hw. 10 Skulls a Day. Doesn't have to be skulls, but has to be symbols (10) done with non-traditional media. And put in a presentation by Friday.
I hate this. I can come up with stuff for it, but camera-work ain't my shtick, nor is anything pertaining to it in my list of "Happy-sauce". =-=U
In general, I just don't like work with cameras... Although, might be pissed off about the project cus I put off my Social hw and am doing it right now.
Good for me. xD

~Shadow R/B

That stress and what you do with it determines your true character. If you buckle under pressure, it shows that you're a little weak mentally.

If you press on, it means that you are constantly progressing.

Gah...
Well, I never was very good in the mental department, anyhow. xD

~Shadow R/B

lol Gotta heighten your breaking point to something that's manageable though.

As for art, good to see you enjoy it. A lot of people have a phobia of drawing fearing they will be judged negatively.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-Rukario In reply to Opengunner [2011-10-30 23:33:55 +0000 UTC]

Eh? Well, I like drawing what I like. My only problem, according to my art teacher, is that they're all the same... And I can see her reasoning. The poses tend to be the same (tho, a piece of work I'm working on looks just awkward, bridal-style carry), tho she says the charas look the same. I disagree on that one... Mostly. (just recalled she has to draw Ori properly)
I guess I'm more fueled on desires than anything else. It's how I get a good deal of my works done. You can probably tell this renders a few of my projects moot afterwards cus the luster dies down.
Guess this ties in with my "live life day by day" attitude, huh?
Meh, iono, inspirations and certain likes come randomly and strongly, ya know? So, one week, Mikage might be one of my charas that I acknowledge, but don't work on. Next day, he might be the center of my verse's universe.
Kinda helps when it comes to working on certain writing and drawing pieces, but otherwise makes it sometimes hard to develop Ceres. xD

~Shadow R/B
What would that kind of behaviour be called, anyhow? Desperate?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Opengunner In reply to Shadow-Rukario [2011-10-30 23:48:58 +0000 UTC]

I understand that desires rule what you do.

But in order to develop yourself and you're art, you have to take a hit and get out of your comfort zone.

the first chick I ever drew looked like a dude, I'm not gonna lie. The first person that I drew that wasn't a stick figure looked like a disfigured mutant, and the first car I ever drew looked like a toy car with outlandishly large wheels.

But I got to where I am today by taking the chance and drawing what I wasn't good at.

I'm not gonna sugar coat or lie to you, a lot of your art looks the same because how of static you make your lines. Its hard to break a way from that, I'll admit because it still happens to me, but believe me, if you don't try to move your characters or draw full body shots, it will never improve.

Figure it this way, if you manage to take your weakness and draw it ten different times, I'm sure you will have made a much larger improvement in those ten drawings than if you drew your strength a hundred times.

When I traded you for the first picture of Saileekitsu, I encouraged you to make a full body pic because I knew it would push your limits. If your limits are never pushed, they will never expand.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-Rukario In reply to Opengunner [2011-10-30 23:53:25 +0000 UTC]

Ah, alright...
Well, then, I suppose I should continue that pic I'm making with the bridal-carrying style? It's difficult, and the guy carrying em isn't in a full body shot, but the lineart's done. It looks mildly amusing to me. :3
Hm... Lots of stuff I erased and deleted cus I thought it looked crap, including a few odd pics of mine. Still have a few of them, tho, like a person curled up in bed, sitting on a tree with their tiger (I think) and cornered. Hm... Maybe I should continue them.
And yeah, style hasn't really changed a lot. I mean, it improved, but didn't change greatly.
Least I'm starting to get arm muscles. Need to work on wrists and elbows still tho.
Keheh, a Halloween bit I'm working on has full body shots. Good grief, I suck at drawing booted feet. xD
Well, feet in general. Meh. x3
Hm, well, since I'm doing a wolf eye for the 10SaD thing, might improve on my realistic drawing.
Man, my realism makes people look asian, I'm not gonna lie. xD

~Shadow R?B
Seriously. Asian eyes. xD

Opengunner In reply to Shadow-Rukario [2011-10-31 00:13:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, try also using the concept of vanishing lines and such and Your art will make a large leap of skill once you understand them and perspective.

As for feet, you just gotta practice. I still have problems drawing them and hands dynamically, but I always try anyways.

And as for realism, its definitely hard to get features just right.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-Rukario In reply to Opengunner [2011-10-31 00:22:51 +0000 UTC]

Vanishing lines? Like those bits of the body you can't see yet you gotta make sure it's still anatomically correct? (what's that called again?)
Perspective, I still gotta work on. I get it better now, but geez, apparently my shading isn't up to par when it comes to that.
See, I rarely use white to shade lighter parts... Should I start implementing that?

~Shadow R/B
Yeah, I know for that one well enough.
Realism... Maybe I'll take a shot at drawing Kage realistically? I just saw some kinda BL thingy on YT that was some kinda ad for a game, and those guys looked awesome! Kinda realistic, but very anime-ish, too. Hm...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Opengunner In reply to Shadow-Rukario [2011-10-31 00:41:42 +0000 UTC]

No, vanishing lines are the guides that help you determine perspective in an organized and structured manner. They are hard to explain via text. Ask your art teacher to show you, she'd better know about that If she's teaching art.

As for using white to shade, it depends on if you feel that it accomplishes what You're trying to do.

But asking me about shading isn't the smartest thing to do. I work backwards compared to most people. Most people shade gradually from lightest to darkest. I do it opposite, I start Darkest and work towards the lightest. I guess its just because the nature of the pens I use.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-Rukario In reply to Opengunner [2011-10-31 00:47:06 +0000 UTC]

Ah, okayzers~! :3
Well, I've seen some art (especially by Kazuki Takahashi or w/e his name was, guy that made Yugioh?) that uses white to shade clothes and such, and it really does look kinda awesome, although somewhat cartoonish too.
Some people, I've seen, shade the oddest things. Shoulders, knees and sometimes elbows with a blush sort of style. Then they have shine on em. Why?
Oh, crap, writing before reading all of your stuff really isn't recommended, is it? Still, maybe you could answer those Q's, yeah? xD
Hm... Myself, I just work with a base and darken it, so yeah. Tho, I work oddly too, since SAI has a layer issue that if you water something too much (or have colour in one bit too close to nothing) it fades and becomes see-through, so some of my shading isn't correct.
Should really try my old shading style again sometime...
But, I guess the white shading works for crystals and shiny stuff, for me. :3

~Shadow R/B
Remixes... How they drain my mind of ideas, oddly enough. They're so awesome it resets my thoughts. xD

They might make you take a History Of Science, and for most of science, straight back to the ancient Greeks, was considered "natural philosophy". It is only recently that scientists where called scientists and not natural philosophers. Philosophers and science are sometimes inseparable.

Philosophy is only interesting if you like to reflect on yourself and what this life means. By the way you describe yourself, I doubt you'll like philosophy because it's not very concrete. It's also tangled with a lot of logic and bull crap at the same time.

Yeah, That war is kind of important. You shouldn't have to wait to be taught it to know about it. That war redefined the globe and generally establishes the downfall of the west as the rulers of the planet.

To be a good historian, you must know more than dates and times, you must know what is happening on the entire globe and how it affects everything else.
