Description I have wanted to do an unmasking scene for a good while now and it just seemed about time.

The odd color scheme is an attempt at creating the eerie glow of a gaslit atmosphere. The thought of his already disfigured face amplified by the shadows and sallowing of low gaslight was really interesting to me.

Really crude stuff for this one. Crayola markers, white gel pen and uniball pen.

Wow! This is really fantastic!

And yes, those colors go quite nicely in adding "fear" and "panic" to the atmosphere!

Very, very nice work!!

Yes, a great concept that is so frequently lost today: things are much more frightening when you can't quite see them. Hence the reason some of the lowest budget horror films are the best!Great picture, by the by! Is it just marker? or do I see coloured pencil as well? Being proficient in neither gives me a great respect for those who are.

Absolutely. If you can't readily see it, that gives your mind enough time to conjure up just how horrible it could be.

It is Prismacolor marker with cheap Bic pen hatching. Thanks very much!

Oooo....I LOVE the greenish background! Her expression is awesome too, as is Erik's stance and hands!
Gas/candle light can make things softer and more beautiful, but it can also make things appear more sinister, too.

Indeed! That is exactly why Toulouse Lautrec paintings are so amazingly gritty, despite him painting a relatively frothy style period. His subject matter was rough, so his lighting was rough. Loves it.

He definitely inspired the color choices.

Her shrinking-away-in-horror pose adeptly conveys what we can't see of his face.

Hm... I'm not sure if you achieve the effect you were going for. A real height in the shadows would help. This one in which you were playing with size and composition would have worked more effectively during an unmasking scene. Though yeah. Its still cool though.

Are you referring to 'Aftermath'?

Eh, can't win 'em all I guess.

Yeah, but I'm sorry if I offended you, I'm testing the ways in which I respond to peoples work.

And well, course you can't always have the greatest work straight off, what you do is a whole lot better already then most, just always having people bow at your feet is no challenge to improve. If you are into that sort of thing that is.

No, you didn't at all. Trust me, that's nowhere near the stuff I get at school and at work.
It's no big deal.

Sweet then- I sometimes wish that the critic that happens at school, would happen here. But everyones too polite. Case example.
