it's been a good long while since I've drawn Eligos hasn't it waow. For being a major character in my primary original project I don't pay attention to her as much as I should ;o; the role that she plays in the story she belongs to could be described as that of a tragic villain. Much of her backstory is tied up in centuries of conflict--but also centuries of friendship and brotherhood--with Beleth, one of the main protagonists. Eligos is often torn in two by the battle between her bitterness and her guilt. On the one hand, she feels enraged by an incredibly egregious slight from Beleth, an act that left Eligos deeply wounded and with physical scars even to this day.
On the other, she sometimes doubts if she has even the right to feel angry--if this is perhaps just passing spitefulness, that she's being petty, ungrateful, to a friend that was beloved to her for centuries. Beleth was always her superior, someone to look up to and depend on. Continuing forward on this revenge quest that she's given herself is, for Eligos, an uphill climb against her own doubts. She often has to pause, has to assure herself that she is, indeed, not only a creature of jealousy.
the title/caption of this piece are from Brutus, by the Buttress, a VERY good song that I highly recommend giving a listen :0! listening to it is what initially inspired this art and the direction i took with it!
