This is REALLY beautiful. I can usually write a good paragraph about things but this leaves me speechless.

You know what I really like about you? That you know how to use a reference. Because you know when you need aid, but you don't just copy a picture, and that is such an useful skill to have, you have no idea.
ANYWAY. This piece is really, really good. Usually I'm not much for pictures with a lot of texture and premade brushes and such, but in this, it becomes a part of the charm, and the piece wouldn't have been the same if you'd done it by hand. And the title is perfect, because light is what makes this piece something special. That is such a beautiful light, it creates atmosphere and soul to it. It's a very calm picture. I like how you mostly have vertical things (trees, as this is what this picture is mostly about) but you break it with a tree that has a branch that is more diagonal. That little thing gives the whole piece life. It's amazing, you should be proud of this.
You have some special skill with light, and your shading has a very special charm. I am happy to see that you are working more with backgrounds, and I am happy to be a watcher now, because then I can say that I knew you before you became popular >: D No, but really, you have a talent here, you just need to keep going.

aijsfdloa;fes you are soooo kind to me ;-;
i wish i could take credit for the scene itself but if i had tried to draw something made up i probably would've gotten frustrated and given up.
I'm trying to work on depth and contrast so im glad its working for you!
im not a real big fan of premade brushes (for leaves and such) but some of them work really well and i didnt want to draw all the leaves by hand (frustration).
i didnt have all my normal brushes because i was using my new computer and has juuuust installed ps on it. I'll have to find a way to transfer my brushes form my laptop to my desktop somehow..
pppf popular pfff ppff ff shh h i have a long way to go before that
;w; youresosweettome

Pfff, there's no such thing as too kind xD And I think the scene is very different to the reference, you've really managed to use a reference as it should be used (and that's one of my kinda-but-not-really pet peeves) and yeah, it can really be hard to draw all those leaves! It's the same with grassm that can really be a pain, but sometimes it's all right just to draw some of the leaves and leave the rest for the viewer's imagination. I like *sandara 's solution in her work Green Dragon, but that muct also have taken some time.
I just began to use brushes beside from the standards, so I'm afraid I cannot help you there ^^ Good luck figuring it out though!
But you have the talent! I'm sure it will come one day if you keep going!

Thanks! I really want to do another background, and I've been making a pile of photos that i love and want to use as references.
Their artwork is so lovely! I'll make an effort to try that out too when i get the chance.
The more I stare at this though the 'dustier' it looks to me, haha... I find that I struggle with making colors look how I want (to me they look 'dusty', but i'm sure ive just stared at this for far too long).
at least i have the motivation to improve areas. I'll like something for a few days or whatever and then im like "ugh i can do better than this!!!"
my desperation to achieve a level that i logically understand is above my current skill level tends to get me in trouble in the real world. oop

(Late answer -_- sorry!)
I love to pile up references. I sadly just never get to use them ... -_- But that's good to hear.
Yeah, it really, really is, I'm absolutely in love with it.
Hm, I see what you mean, though I really like the dustly look. There's so many bright colours out there, I'm more for the more desaturated look. I think the dusty colours really makes the light stand out in this, though, but I wish you good luck in getting to where you want with your colours!
Awww, I know that feeling. I've been there. Luckily, I'm improving very much in being happy with what I do. Which is, after all, what't the most important (I still have areas where I just want to pull hy hair out and scream in frustration, it's not that ... )
