Well it was still an assault rifle SO it needed bigger rounds, Not Caseless. So i thought up a new round

So the round explodes when it touches flesh? How does it know?

Poly rounds. Ever shot water with a High powered rifle? They are real rounds. Its dense enough to punch through armor, But it stops when it hits soft targets like flesh, and frags

Oh okay, yeah the design is very futuristic. It's just a personal thing I have against futuristic-looking guns that actually aren't that futuristic at all in function (*cough* assault rifle from Halo *cough*) but that's just me. I know conventional brass-cased ammo has a lot of advantages over electromagnetic accelerators or even just caseless ammo, such as the cartridge acting as a heat sink to prevent cooking off, the familiarity and current ease of manufacturing (I think,) and stuff like that. Which is why it's been with us for over a century, relatively unchanged.

For now anyways, it's cheaper.
Yep, that's true, which is why I love making guns with a badass design, though mine function pretty futuristically as well as just looking cool. But I've seen a handful of "normal" guns that look pretty damn cool as well...my personal favorites so far are the P90 and the TAR-21, which both look like they came straight out of a Halo game!

The AK is a classic gun, and I like to think my IX4 rifle is the AK of futuristic guns, since in the setting it is used in it is the most widely-used EPW (energy-projectile weapon, namely a weapon that fires a projectile to deliver an energy (thermal or electrical) charge to the target, rather than a beam,) used by a variety of different armies and private military contractors.

What other Russian guns are there that are as durable and tough as the AK?

Its not Russian. Its american made man. Named the AA-12. American made but the US military is being a dick and not looking at it.

Oh yeah, I've seen that series, it's quite a good series on Youtube. My favorite one was the episode where the guy fires a shotgun with a "dragon's breath" pyrotechnic shotgun shell that sets the target on fire! The cone of flame and sparks was amazingly impressive!

Oh yes!
Google likes to squeeze the last coin possible for each of their websites. Nothing against static advertisement in lateral banners like in DA, they bring profit and don't annoy anyone, but the problem here is that my internet isn't quite fast, and I used to watch the videos in the worse resolution possible in Youtube for them to load fast, but now the ads starts always before, usually in High-Quality (and you can't change it to bad quality) and just froze in the video or take forever to go out...
I'm watching streaming in Motherless.com and other porn streaming sites only...

Yeah slow internet sucks. I was pretty much cursed with shitty internet connections all my life until several months ago, and even now I still suffer from bad connections!

Honestly, I'm doing everything I can to fight SOPA, and encourage you and everyone else I know to do the same. But if it does pass, and deviantART is taken down, then I am currently in the process of asking for my friends' emails and instant messenger screen names, and I encourage you to ask for the emails and screen names of all of your friends as well, just in case this site goes down. Because if we don't, we may never see our online friends again. That's just my warning, you can listen or not.

Yeah that makes sense. Still there ought to exist tracer shotgun shells that spray colored sparks and make the shot actually visible, but DON'T set people or things on fire. Like how regular tracer rounds generally don't set stuff on fire, as opposed to actual incendiary rounds. I just think it'd look badass to actually see the spread of shot from a shotgun, and to make it glow. Because my personal philosophy regarding gun design, as stupid as this may sound, is "if its shots don't glow, then it isn't worth my time." Thus the reason all my guns fire glowing shots of some kind or another, be them plain old tracer shells, superheated, red-hot bolts of tungsten, hypervelocity Gauss slugs that move so fast they only show up as a brief blue-white streak of superheated air, ionized blue-white plasma bolts, or straight-up lasers. Regular bullets are boring to me, however practical and effective they may be.

Hm. You do know that the Tracer Eats the barrel away at an accelrated rate, Is why M👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Great-5 In reply to The-Last-Dragon-Kni [2012-01-04 02:27:06 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I knew that, just make improved tracers that don't do that as much, and barrels that are more durable. Sure it'd be more expensive to manufacture, but who cares? I'm about designed guns, not mass-producing them.

Great-5 In reply to The-Last-Dragon-Kni [2012-01-04 02:49:29 +0000 UTC]
Yeah now you're talkin! I think the real trick is to understand WHY tracer rounds corrode the barrel so fast. Is it the higher temperatures of the pyrotechnic charge, or perhaps the potentially corrosive chemicals used as fuel, or the resulting compounds created from burning the pyrotechnic chemicals? Yeah maybe a barrel made of some sort of inert ceramic compound could work.
And it would be necessary in my fictional universe, since there it is set in an alternate future where everyone uses tracers, due to a new international (and eventually interplanetary) treaty that requires all combatant factions to use tracer ammunition in order to, among other things, warn civilians to keep out of warzones, but also to enable both sides to see the shots, making a more fair fight. Of course in real life these are all really silly reasons to use tracers, but hell, I wanted an excuse to make everybody use tracers in the future. That and in case it ever gets turned into a video game, it would be a means to explain the fact that every shot in video games is a tracer anyways.

Ist the Auctual Tracer itss elf man. Of course if your using Overpressure +P rounds. It would kill a barrel. The Poh used to Light the bullet rubs off in teh barrel. ANd Even somthing with Lime mixed in it couldnt fire strate Tracers,. It would melt the Barrel down

I see. Well why not ditch the pyrotechnics in the first place and use maybe electronics, like mini-LED lamps? The only problems I could see that having would be them being prohibitively expensive to manufacture, and a bit wasteful of resources, not to mention they'd probably keep on glowing even after they've come to rest in the target.
