Description
From pp. 344 and 345 of Watership Down by Richard Adams:Bigwig crouched in his burrow, pressed against Hyzenthlay. He was trembling, but not with cold: the stuffy runs of the Mark were dense with thunder; the air felt like a deep drift of leaves. Bigwig was close to utter nervous exhaustion. Since leaving General Woundwort, he had become more and more deeply entangled in all the age-old terrors of the conspirator. How much had Woundwort discovered? ...Through more holes than he could possibly stop, his secret was leaking--pouring--out.
Part of a larger work-in-progress that will eventually show Woundwort as well as several other characters.
2010, oil pastel and colored pencils on black paper.

The fearful expressions in both of their faces portrays incredibly well. Great job on conveying such emotion. Body language matches most excellently.
The outer edges of the piece might benefit from more detail; either fading into blackness or simply completing the brown detail that's already present around the burrow. Something on the edges would simply finish off the piece nicely. Something to consider for next time, potentially.
Lighting effects in the back of the burrow add to the piece.

Thanks for the compliments, and for the critique! I'm pleased with how Hyzenthlay turned out, especially; I've grown up with pet bunnies, so I tried to use body language I've seen from them. I'm glad it's effective.
Coincidentally, I was working on this piece some more just an hour ago. You're absolutely right about the edges; they will be smoothed out by the time I'm done. In addition, today I fleshed out Woundwort and Blackavar, and then the Black Rabbit made an appearance. The lighting is going to get all kinds of weird; I hope it'll still look all right.

Me too, and he might have been. It never said who she paired off with. But yeah, those two are my favorite male and favorite female in the cast. <3 Hyzenthlay has the coolest name.

The starry look is a nice touch. Bigwig's wide eye does make him look very terrified.
