Description By now, most of us should be aware that 'voting' is simply designed to distract the masses. Presidents and Prime Ministers are hand-picked by the elite. Case closed.
It doesn't take a tonne of research to work this out. It takes common sense and some critical observation.

"Any talk of democracy whilst there is private ownership is rubbish."
- one of John Dewey's concepts in a nutshell.

I haven't voted for some years, (sorry Emily Pankhurst) yet try as I might they won't take me off the electoral roll. It seems to me its just a disguised census. They just sent me another form and I crossed my name out and supplied a covering letter to reiterate that although I live at that address I want to be taken off the list..because I don't vote ! They threaten you with "Well, it may affect your credit rating"..but I don't do "credit" (what, and support the banks ?!)
In the section where my signature goes I crossed out the bit where they get me to agree to be fined £1,000 or go to prison if I lie about anything.
What a sauce, they assume I'm a potential liar ? So no, I don't consent to a fine or imprisonment if they decide my crossing my name out was misleading because I explained why..

I'd be interested to know how you duck out of the system (if you do try to). Officialdom wants to fight me to comply while ever I have a fixed address. I did live for some years (out of spite) under the radar (comfortably, self sufficient, blissfully peaceful years without a fixed address) but the winter got me down in the end.

Now I just resist where I can, but I admit I don't have much fight left in me.

Sometimes voting does work, if a lot of hard work and organization is put into making there be a worthwhile alternative and the powers that be are sufficiently overly greedy and obviously incompetent. And it is worth a try, because violent revolutions carry a very high price tag in lives lost, and they don't always bring something better than that which they displace. Assuming that they win in the first place, which isn't a given.

The plan should be "Vote... then protest and cause trouble when the elite refuse to give us what they promised when we voted for them" ... but most people stop at just voting and the protests are never populous enough to have enough impact.
Even if it doesn't seem to make a difference, there's no reason to give up the right to vote.

I agree with Zoe. Voting alone is not enough - it is 'voting and'.

If voting could change the status quo, it would be illegal.

"And please, DO NOT VOTE. The rich are simply laughing at you when you vote; for does any adult seriously believe it is possible to change their country, or the world, by putting an X in a square?? It is time to grow up. No-one ever gets to vote against the rich." -Francis Richard Conolly
