Personality: Power-hungry and desperate for fame and prestige, Noctine is a very easy mare to dislike. Her words are harsh and cold to those she does not feel are worthy of her time, and she is undoubtedly manipulative... however, beneath her sharp thorns lies a mare that is -- at the heart -- good, if a bit misguided.

Noctine does not get along with other mares -- likely a result of her dam's abandonment of her and her sire as a child. As such, she is not very integrated into the heart of starborn culture and graces, despite her admirable coat. Her heart and mind are that of a merchant, and she is very good at spinning lies and avoiding truths in order to get her way.

Her only real close relationship is the one she has with her sire: for him, she would do anything, and it is indeed for him that she is so desperate to rise to power. If she could just impress the new Astralis enough to earn his favour, life would be so much better for both of them. They would no longer be forced to linger on the fringe of society, treated as inconsequential.

Habits/Quirks:

She doesn't judge others the way they are usually judged. After all, her mother was starborn and she was a deserter. Her father, the most amazing stallion in the world, is rather unremarkable by herd standards. She looks more to the use of others, and what they can provide her.

She hates other mares. With a passion. It's not usually so noticeable (beyond a slight sneer on her face), however she is openly disparaging of the Nebulae. After all, she should be the Astralis' favourite.

She loves jewellery and trinkets, though she doesn't yet have enough to buy what she wants. She has a few small pieces (such as her earrings and a pale star in her mane), however she's biding her time on larger, more intricate pieces. One day, when she has the status, she will get all that she wants...

History: Noctine was born to a beautiful starborn mare and a low-born trader. It is unknown why Mazanti allowed Nordalen to court her, however the result was simple, if sad: after the birth of her child, Mazanti was callous and harsh to the stallion, blaming him for holding her back from her true place in life. Young Noctine, who loved her father and saw him as the best friend of her youth, hated her mother for her treatment of her father and when Mazanti finally decided to leave and take her star-touched daughter with her, Noctine immediately refused. Disgusted by her daughter's misplaced loyalty, Mazanti left and never deigned to acknowledge either of them again.

Growing, Noctine's sire doted on her and taught her the secrets of trade. All was well until, at a relatively young age, Nordalen became lame after a bad accident. Unable to travel like he once did, Nordalen's trade suffered, and by Noctine's fifth year, they were destitute.

Noctine refused to abandon her father to his fate, and as such has become obsessed with finding a way to climb the ranks quickly, to gain enough honour and prestige to help her father. To finally claim her place in starborn society was an option, however one that would be too slow, not to mention the prestige not enough to extend to her father. No, to get them both to a secure, well-kkept life, there was really only one option...

Win over the Astralis, and become his most favoured Nebula.

Opinion of your herd/herd leader: In a word? Hunger. She is desperate to gain the favour of the Astralis, and she is willing to do anything to do so. As for the herd... she regards them with a mixture of apathy and disdain, for nobody lifted a hoof to help her father when he was made lame, beyond offering to shoulder the 'burden' of his star-touched daughter.

Despite her admitted haughtiness and star-flecked coat, she is far more likely to find kin amongst the outcasts than amongst her fellow starborn.

Aurenix is... a stallion with some serious anger management issues but... I get him. He's a lot like me in a lot of ways, and despite his emotional constipation and general apathy or disgust of just about everything I find I... rather like him.
