Description
Yesteryear ago I've been wanting to make Matto's reference sheet so I finally stopped being a perfectionist and bust my butt down to fulfil this wish. He's been on my art journey ever since and I'm planning to bring him along for like the rest of it, he will be redesigned and re-conceptualized again and again with time, just like me
Matto
Newly fledged demon through forced contract between a human and reluctant demon.
Matto’s soul was too fragile and deemed unworthy to strike a deal with the demon he summoned, but by some miniscule luck of, he outsmarts the demon into making a contract with him. The demon core and his soul fused together to compromise his condition. The demon core provides power and immortality that he needed, while his soul provides a vessel.
If by chance another demon manages to consume Matto’s soul, the demon will disintegrate into million pieces and it would take millions of years to regain themselves, if that doesn’t count the times the pieces grew into newer demons. In a way it feels degrading for the all-powerful demon, making them despise Matto even more.
Stuck in a limbo between human and demon, Matto does not have the need to consume souls or energy from the living, yet could not get rid of the desire to eat. He was stuck with insatiable craving that would never be fulfilled; a curse bestowed upon him by the demon he had fused with. Matto lived a long life recklessly fuelling many disputes and wars by selling information. Until he settled down by distracting himself by obsessing over forbidden or discarded scriptures. Even going through the length bringing the dead back to finish their script, but to no avail, the undead mind works differently.
His current objective is to find ‘Hell’s First Thesis’ that had the information to undo their contract, sadly it was out of print and he needed to find the demon reincarnate that can republish a copy.
Occupation: Owns a private mortuary that doubles as information broker.
“No walk-in appointment, reservations decided by the owner.”
Key Items
Gloves: He values his professionalism by keeping the white side of his gloves pristine when working.Red Halo: A visible mark of the demon. It stays a red halo when their power wasn’t needed.Cravat ornaments: Metallic pointy skull with tentacles that resembles Cthulhu, tacky accessories to boost his ego. I think this year design fits my vision of him more, there are variations in mind but this will do for now
anyways thanks for coming to my rambling, bhai have a nice day~
