If you don't mind my asking, how did you discover how to do this? It is amazing! I had no idea that clay can be molded to look like knit!!!

thank you. sorry for the late reply.
i just wondered if it could be done, so i fiddled around with a few rolled snakes of clay until i had something that looked like this. i did try actually knitting with it but i could work out how to do it over multiple rows :/

*chuckles* well, what's an artist or craft-er supposed to do if you don't attempt to try something new?
(And sorry for my late reply as well!!~ ~>3<~)

thanks. i posted at tutorial over at craftster for my bright stripes bangles but all of my bangles follow a similar construction.
[link]
the strength will depend on the thickness of the item and on the brand of clay you are using
STRONG: Premo, Kato, Cernit, SuperSculpey Firm
MEDIUM (probably): FimoClassic... then FimoSoft, Studio by Sculpey
WEAK: Sculpey (weakest), SuperSculpey, SculpeyIII (copied from the Glass attic: [link] )
i use fimo though it has a medium strength its the easiest for me to get hold of. i dont make my bangles too thin (if you want thin bangles i would try one of the strongest brands) my bangles are usually 1.5cm in width and about 1cm in depth i've never had a problem with them breaking. i dont usually bother with varnish as i like the satin finish of sanded and buffed clay but if your using image transfers or mica powers or another surface technique than a varnish will protect it from wear.
hope this helps : )
