Cheryl Blossom. Archies Comics own her, not me. I just own this crappy little sketch that I scribbled with my tablet. I vaguely used a pic of Farrah Fawcett as a reference for the smile and hair. It seems like back in the early eighties, Cheryl had hair that was more feathered-looking. She's also the only Archies girl who always has colored eyeballs and a cowlick in the back of her hair instead of the front like Betty and Veronica do.So there it is. Cheryl.

Cheryl done in a more realistic style -- neat! She's not my favorite character, but she is a nice contrast to a lot of the other Riverdale regulars, being even more snooty than Veronica at times!

She's a brat. She's like Veronica on steroids. If I knew someone like her in real life, I would facepalm and tell them "get over yourself." But I like her. She has her silly moments in kind of an "EEK! A MOUSE!" sort of way. I like writing her as a "villain" and rival in fic when I scribble any. Glad you like the style! I had fun drawing it.

Yup, she and her twin are both brats -- one of these days they'll get a comeuppance, and it might even be by Reggie, who can act as snooty as them but actually has more of a soft center than he wants to admit.
There's one story where Cheryl keeps dreaming about Jughead in a romantic way and the only way to break it seems to be to kiss Juggie -- neither is impressed! But the way Jughead looks is very dashing in the dreams.

I never read that one! I'll have to keep an eye out for it. I love Reggie in some of the older stories where he was REALLY snooty.

There's a Half-Price Books near me that someone just dropped a bunch of Archie digests; I got some of them but will need to go back. In the 50s and 60s, Reggie WAS a reall snooty sort! I think I like him better in the later stories where he actually seems to care about something other than himself . . . .

He is more likable. Definitely. I like that Archie is reprinting more of the old stories with the pretty DeCarlo artwork. Reggie looked great.

I look for the Samm Schwartz stories and art as well; Samm had a good handle on all the Archie gang, not just Juggie, and his Reggie can definitely be recognized.

I know. I love Samm's panels, because his motion was so well captured. The characters were very dramatic when they leaned, or ran, or knocked each other down. Kisses were drawn with big "SMOOCH!" effects and left the victim looking all loopy and covered with lip prints. I love his Big Ethel the best, too. Her clothes were flamboyant and funny, lots of floral prints and red turtlenecks and bell bottom pants.

Yeah, Samm was the best artist for a lot of the Archie gang. And he kept the same body langusage for the differing characters, like animation studios do; you knew Jughead's walk was differnt than Archie's or Reggie's, etc. Today's artists don't usually make that differentation, alas.

i dunno why you called it crappy! i think it's marvelous. i love the fawcet hair, i think it suits her.
