Forgive me for butting in here, but I have some information on what you're looking for.
The game is called Journey, it's a PS3 and soon to be a PS4 game that was made for a 48 hour game jam. It takes about 8 hours to complete entirely and can be beaten in under 2. The game itself is awesome, you have no attacks, no way of defending yourself, and your movement mechanic other than walking is flight by expanding your ribbon as you go. The Magic in your ribbon will regenerate over time, or you can use other ribbons in the game's plant life to regenerate it. Having your net and random connections allowed on your PS makes the game more interesting, as you will come across other people who you can 'talk' to by making sounds, and by talking to the others, you can help regenerate their ribbons.
These days it can be bought in a three pack with the games Flower and Flow at walmart and i'm sure other places for 20$
