Thank you very much for your comment. I understand, and I'm actually flattered by the delayed comment. For me, when I piece blows me away, I become speechless and don't know how to comment and feel it deserves more than just a simple "looks cool" or "awesome". I usually end up commenting a while later. Your belated comment has made my day!!
As for the background effect, I just used a "zoom" blurring effect -- the only credit I can take is for the patience I had to exert in fiddling with the settings and waiting each time for it to render. In terms of spiderman, himself, I am very proud of (and surprised at) how the painting of it turned out -- which incidentally took the least amount of time.
Thanks again for the comment!

It was a mixture of Painter X and Corel PhotoPaint X3, and of course pencil/paper for the original sketch.

This is MARVEL-ous! The drawing really seems to be moving!
I can't imagine how long it must've taken you to finish this. *faves*
Go go Spidey!

LOL. Corny, but good pun!! It took forever to finish. Spidey himself was quickly painted, but then I lost all momentum. Thank you for your comment and fav!

Thank you very much!!! I worked a long time on this, so I really appreciate the comment. Yes, the traditional look comes from using PainterX which can produce very realistic media effects. Spidey (minus the web lines) was painted as "oil" with a "medium bristle camel hair" brush. I really didn't know what I was doing, but the program made the textures look good.

Thanks. A wonderful compliment coming from an awesome artist such a yourself. Any critiques that will help me in my future works?
I remember you had suggested on my wip that city scapes are over-done, so I actually created two versions: this and one with a "daily bugle" newspaper background (per your advice to use a texture that is relevant to the friend I was making this for.) The other one is actually the one I'm getting printed for my friend. I had it up on dA but sadly, dA disallowed it as a print for copyright reasons. If you wish to see the result of your suggestion, I'll pull it out of storage.
(btw, did I mention already your new avatar is awesome!?)

Here Try This: [link]
I Went through the site and read most of the reviews and Tutorials, it seems awfully sweet and real simple to use.
Coloring for me is such a chore and at times not fun at all, I guess because with PS, Ill, Corel and with others that I've tried it all seems so complicated.
Hopefully with this I can start to enjoy Coloring for the first time.

Thanks for the link. I will definitely try it out. Yeah, all those programs have a ridiculous learning curve. If I weren't using Corel at work, I wouldn't have the incentive to learn it. But having said that, once you know your way around these programs, they are capable of some amazing things (and sometimes amazingly frustrating things.) In addition to Corel Draw Suite, I've used/tried PainterX, a bit of PS, Gimp2, OpenCanvas and MangaStudio. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but I've stuck with Corel just cause of familiarity. Gimp is free and relatively easy to use, but is a pig on computer resources. OpenCanvas and MangaStudio (both originally japanese?) are cool because you can rotate and work on your pictures just like with paper, to avoid unnatural arm motions or brush strokes.

Thanks. Your previous comments and input had an influence on this outcome.
Its the CN tower in Toronto...the friend I drew this for lives in the Toronto area. Except the image is not entirely geographically accurate, as there is no such street where you can get that particular sight-line....but meh, artistic license and all.
