When I saw the Dark Crystal for the first time when I was young, I didn't understand why the very dinosaurian Skeksis and urRu mystics merged into something you could well describe as Burtonesque monkey people. Even though I now as an adult see why they would go with that design from a visual storytelling standpoint, upon a rewatch I found myself still longing to see what the urSkeks could have been like had they retained the shared characteristics of the both halves.

Out of that desire was born the concept of the SkekRu, an alternate united form of Skeksis and urRu. I wanted them to reflect both of their two halves, with wisdom and kindness but with hints of the darkness and ambition also still present. I won't even pretend to be anywhere near as skilled an artist or creature designer as Brian Froud, but I'm still happy with my meagre effort nonetheless.

Also, if you want to come with an in-lore explanation for the SkekRu, perhaps this is how the urSkeks originally looked before the Great Division, but drinking all of that Gelfling essence altered the Skeksis half so much on a spiritual level that once made whole they took on a much more Gelfling-like appearance. Also something something mystics communing with Thra. You get the gist.
