Description The "megabeak penguin" Spheniscus megaramphus was a large Miocene cousin of the northernmost modern penguin species such as the Galapagos penguin and Magellanic Penguin. Besides being much larger than its modern cousins, it had a long and massive beak in comparison to modern taxa. Whether the megabeak penguin used its big raptorial beak against larger fish and molluscs than its present-day kin or if it was a Murderous Baby-Killing Penguin of Death we may never know for sure (although it's almost certainly the former, let's be honest.)

The linework is a stlightly improved version of the #paleoctober drawing with added coloring.

Thanks! I used living Spheniscus species as reference on the details like the bare skin and wrinkles on the beak, which helped a lot.
