contest entry for NinjaKato

Decided to just use the song title of the song I picked lol Up All Night by Owl City. I chose to draw Kato's feline character Snaketail and my character Ghost the gangly ghost kitten. She had a real name at one point, but doesn't really remember her past.

I kind of thought they'd probably be an interesting set of friends 'cause they both have glowy eyes lol except Snaketail is blind, so he wouldn't know, but either way. I also thought it was funny that they're both on the small size. They just have a few things in common, so it seemed fitting to place them together.

Anyway. I guess the story behind this was that I figured that somehow Snaketail wondered into a place where Ghost often is floating about doing her ghostly thing and she approaches him, eager for some company. A lot of animals don't really like talking to ghosts, go figure lol so she's pretty lonely. So she floats on over and he probably is startled, cause well, there's no scent of anyone else there or even any sound other than a voice just appearing from nowhere. He probably takes a few swipes at her, but there's just nothing. Perhaps his paws pass through her and all he feels is chills. I don't know. But he's feisty, so I imagine he might be a little hostile.

So eventually they work things out, I could see Ghost being surprised by the hostility 'cause usually others just run away or question her even existence. But since Snaketail is blind he doesn't know that. So she has to explain it, which is a first, since others can tell pretty quickly what she is.

Somehow they become friends, but only see each other at night and what not.

To go along with the song, I figure maybe Snaketail thinks about Ghost a lot and what not. Wondering how she came to be, why she's a ghostly cat, etc. just general questions. But like no one really believes him about being friends with a ghost 'cause that's just crazy lol

And then one night she has him go to her favorite spot, the grave yard. She just finds it really peaceful. And even though it smells a little funny to Snaketail and seems a little creepy, he enjoys the stillness of it or something. I don't know lol but he likes it because she likes it and she you know, shared something that was important to her. Pfft. Cheesy.

Anyway. Maybe they fall in love, maybe they don't, but either one I figured they'd have an interesting friendship regardless and since they mostly would hang out in the wee hours of the night, well being "up all night" just made sense. And then the song even mentions a ghost and eh. Idk I just thought it was fitting.

Sorry this is so rambly. I'm really terrible at writing these kinds of descriptions lol

I also thought I wouldn't get this done for awhile longer, I've been working on it for idek how long and it's not even that great, but I tried.
