Personality:

Gwen is cheerful and friendly, though not overbearing. She has an easy energy to her. She will always greet you with a smile on her face and you will find she can be your biggest cheerleader, regardless of how well you actually know each other. She is passionate about horses but also enjoys a quiet night in with her books - she's got a lot of them. The barn cats tend to congregate in her room at night. She's a girly girl and loves her cute dresses, doing her makeup, and online shopping. But don't think she will hesitate for a second to get down and dirty. She will trudge through the mud, get covered in dirt and slobber, and drink from the hose. The only thing she's a baby about is the cold. She will dress up like an extra-stuffed marshmallow on any given winter day, and she will complain about the cold if she is outside for longer than five seconds. 'Hard worker' and 'Gwen' are practically synonymous. She will work herself into the ground if you let her.

History:

Gwen grew up in a small town in southern Washington. Her parents allowed their neighbors to borrow their pastures for their horses to graze on. It was the closest to owning horses she'd ever come. She learned to ride by taking the horses for joy rides bareback. After the first few times she got caught and it became apparent there would be no keeping her away from them, she was taught how to ride properly. Her parents never had the funds to be able to actually pay for lessons - much less her own horse or a lease - so once she reached the limits of what her neighbors could teach, she went to the closest barn and begged her way into a working student set-up. From middle school through high school she was at the barn every night after school. She barely had a social life, she only did school and horses

It paid off, though. In high school she was able to join the barn's show team, and saved up her allowance money to pay for show fees and second hand clothes. Once she hit college, she went to a school that had an equestrian team and worked in the barn and took a job at the school to help pay for everything. Four years later she graduated with a Bachelor's in Equine Studies and found herself leaving school with nowhere else to ride but the little barn back home. She did go there, but the ability to grow and find a barn to work at was severely stunted and the industry near impossible to get a job in.

Her parents found out about cousin a couple times removed who had moved from Great Britain to Oregon to ride at Osteophagus Stables and got her in contact with him. They were going through a ton of change with their owner retiring and moving horses around and were unable to take her at that time, but they got her in contact with a friend at Walnut Ridge in Central Washington. She got a job with them as assistant barn manager and rider. After they had her show around their horses for a season, they decided to start her out with a mare they were importing from Ireland. Gwen - in her searches while they were looking for Apple - stumbled upon Rex. She could not stop thinking about him. He wasn't what the barn was looking for. He was unconventional, not really registerable anywhere, and the sellers outright admitted he had a hell of an attitude problem. But he had wormed his way into her brain. She flew to North Ireland to see him and fell in love. She emptied her savings account and flew back shaking - for the first time in her life, she had her very own horse. Bob and Linda - Walnut Ridge's owners - had the stall plaque waiting for her when she got back.
