There's a lot of drama going on about Samus right now that I don't care about. :v But it made me wanna draw her so I drew her from the NES era. Except with short hair, because artistic liberty.-----

I remember one of the games had Samus in all kinds of outfits in her various endings... I'd definitely love to see more variety of her in general.

I loved the green hair. Β Remember when it was okay for anime and video game charactersto have green and blue hair, like it was totally natural? Β I miss those days.
They should have green hair/maroon leotard Samus as an alt costume for Smash Bros.

Problem is, if they did, people'd probably tie themselves into knots about how its' degrading to women, or whatever. 
I mean, let's be completely honest here, is there any practical purpose to the Justin Bailey leotard other than fan service? No, there isn't. But, y'know, Samus was orphaned from a young age, never met her parents, she's blown up countless planets, beaten innumerable space pirates, hasn't seen another human in god knows how long, and she's done all of it with no teammates, no backup, no sidekicks, no Nothing.
......If she wants to walk around all day in a maroon leotard and heel boots, I'd say she's damn well earned the right.

I always liked the Justin Bailey version of her, with the green hair!
I really, really like your take on her! I like the decision you made to give her shorter hair -- it looks awesome, and it fits well with her focused, calm, tough expression. I love the energy in her bangs, how they swoop across her forehead!
I like her eyes, and her lips. I like how her eyes have a great spark of life, as she looks to the side, alert, looking around for any threats. I like her lips, and how there's a bit of a sheen to them, but there's this hard pout in her expression there, that somehow suggests she's got her jaw set, all serious-like, as she's going about her mission.
I LOVE how you interpreted her outfit. I like the details you added -- I especially love how the sleeves connect to the rest of the suit about her shoulders. I love the angles and shapes they make around there, and how that gives it this feel like it's a futuristic suit, not just a generic purple swimsuit. I like how the sleeves have a bit of a shine to them, and how the texture on them is a bit smoother -- it kinda implies a harder mass to her muscules. And I like how even just that one little line/seam running down the front of the suit makes it feel more convincing, too. And I like how you show how it fits her -- seeing some of her muscle-y abs poking against the suit, and seeing how the suit gets pulled around her chest. Overall, I just like how you took the idea of a generic, purple leotard and through textures and lines and shapes you made it feel more serious and futuristic, and made it fit her (urg pun) so well.
I love the colors, and I think her pose is good. I like the shapes and curves of her figure. I like the strong way her arms are posed, and the kinda slow, exaggerated walking stance her legs are in. I especially like the back leg, the one kind of stylishly stepping forward; I like how you have this soft, hazy lighting on the foot -- it kinda gives the sense of movement in her step that slow, dramatic feel, like when the cool person walks out of an explosion to loud music in a movie. XD
Anyway. Whoa. She looks AWESOME. I love what you did here. Ms. Aran looks amazing.

I am sure that not pictured there are explosions, metroids devouring beasts, and exploding metroids that she's not looking at, because she's too cool to look at it. But yeah I'm glad you likek the shading. I don't really do shading like this much... ever... anymore. I do prefer cel shading but it's nice to revisit softer shading once in a while.

The more I think about it, the more I prefer this version. Short hair seems more practical. Long hair seems too high maintenance for someone whose profession is galactic bounty hunting. I can't help but wonder if that big ponytail is restricting under the helmet. Wouldn't mind seeing this in a blonde version, but it's nice as is.

She has heels because she has jets in her shoes now. They're functional, not like stilettos. It's not worth getting worked up over, but people still want to so... okay. XD She's already in a skin tight outfit guys, you've lost the battle.
