Oh those silly Pony Trees... They're so nice... This one is just starting to bloom-- in another day or so the blooming ponies will turn primer white, and eventually they'll all burst forth with color! These varieties are mostly blues and pinks!Related content

I was wondering, what tools did you use to sculpt the mane and tails? And did you use some kind of mold to make all of these? Oh, and how did you attach them on to their heads and rears? With super glue?

X-acto knife and sand-paper. That's pretty much all I use. Yeah, I make silicone molds of my sculpts so I can cast a bunch of copies... and yeah, I just use super glue to attach.

Wow. Would you have any tips for a person who's trying to make the mane and tails with oven-bake clay?

1) Look at other peoples' work to see how they did their custom ponies... but use the source material (the show) as your main references.
2) This takes practice, so don't get frustrated if it doesn't come out the way you want the first time. Keep trying. Don't be afraid to start over if it's not shaping up the way you want. Experimentation is how you learn and get better.
3) Post pics or it didn't happen.

Been meaning to ask... how are you attaching the bits to the sticks? I've been using wire and poster tac, but it can be a pain especially on the heavier tails.

I have super-glue and kicker (the spray that make the glue dry almost instantly...) So I just glue them on temporarily.

I make silicone molds for my sculpts... so they're all resin copies of a sculpt I made.

Not quite... Scratch is all out front and Pinkamina is hiding in back... but the manes and tails in between might get all arrogant and huffy if you accuse her of being a filly-- especially Earth Pony and Pegasus fillies...

Ha ha ha. No, I bought several 6 foot dowels-- which are still better for sculpting the tails onto than the bamboo skewers, which splinters to heck when you cut them.
