Very dramatic piece. The colors suggest a connection between the character on the right and the sun, while the character on the left is connected to the earth. Perhaps the orange character is a component of the others mind enlightening her through the symbol of the letter?

Dunno why but I thought about Murakami Ryuu`s "Coinlocker babies" when I saw this painting. Colors you`ve used, sky and sun, their faces... Almost as if the world should end.
