Description Okay, here's a map for a defunct timeline idea of mine where Worldwar, Stirling's 'lords of creation', The legacy of the aldenata, Footfall and Vernor Vinge's 'zones of thought' and more have been crossed over. It's been discarded in favor of doing more descriptions.

It is 2055: 113 years since earth was first invaded by the race, 102 years until the Qeng Ho intervention brought a second human-race war to a halt, 92 years since the partition of the inner planets, 60 years since the Fithp invaded the world and 51 years since the posleen attempted yet another invasion.

Recent news from Banard's star is not very encouraging. Yes, they found starfaring humans (!!) there, but the... response that the Terran Confederation ambassadors have gotten isn't good.

Back on earth...

The majority of humans live within the Terran confederation, a supranational organization of democracies dedicated to common defense, economic development and working together against the authoritarians. The US, China, Japan and a now rather radically reformed Soviet union are the leaders.

Then, there are the "Free World's" historic enemies -- the pact of steel. The Pact is an alliance of right-leaning nations that ranges from Very Hindu India, "We're not fascist, honest." Turkey and of course the Greater German Reich of over 250 million germans strong.

The third player are what's left of the Race's colonies on earth. Following the second human-race war of 1952-3, as well as a second phase of retrenchmant in the wake of the Posleen invasion of both Earth and Home the Race has retreated back to it's core desert areas. It's only remaining protectorate are areas designated as such to keep the status quo like France or Poland or nations which find Race rule too useful to just discard like Mongolia. Since the Race have been on earth a century, they are part of the normal world.

Newer problems for the democracies include the Rational Order, a group of technocracies centered in Africa. Secondly, you have the "Alliance of the south" a group of nations unified under the "Revisionist" movement's populist banner. Of course, then there are the muslim nations which have formed yet another alliance of their own.

Off of earth, there are other concerns such as the machinations of the darhel, the agenda of the temporally displaced Qeng Ho traders and of course the newest issue of the humans at Banard's star to worry about...
