Description The tetrahedron is one of the strongest and simplest of structures. It is also one of the 5 Platonic Solids and as such is part of many Sacred Geometry structures. As time goes on I have a greater and greater fascination with this simple form and it's evidence in the natural world...By studying it and the other Platonic solids I gain greater insight into structure and proportion in the Natural world. These are ancillary attributes of BEAUTY,which apparently is my lifelong pursuit...The sphere within it helps to visually define it's space.
Welded and painted stainless steel.
Sphere and Tetrahedron Intersected
Dimensionss: tetrahedron's sides are 16"long,Stainless tubing is 7/8ths.Sphere is 10" in diameter.

This piece has been buried in the back and on top of my refrigerator for about 5 years.I just rediscovered it,re-polished it and now it has a place of honor outdoors...

you know, regular people get more impressed following the rule "the bigger the better"

I try to ignore the sentiments of the "regular"people.
I make the sculpture for me first ,then address clients needs.
In this way i can believe in the process and my own work...

Pardon the random, but this sculpture would fit well as the source of magical power in a good scifi/fantasy flick. It's a gorgeous way to use a gazing ball, too!

Lovely as usual. I really like the red sphere inside it. I'm also a fan of the tetrahedron. It is a truly nice shape.

I may have mentioned that Bucky Fuller was a friend of the family and spent many an evening at my father's table ,rambling on and on about such things. The tetrahedron was his favorite shape. He invented the "tetrahedral truss",which is currently being used expanding the space station...

Good intersection of art and craft. This would be only "interesting" if you weren't a damn good welder! Nice work!

Indeed! Without the sphere, you'd have ... ?? A Four Sided Thingy. Welded nicely...

I actually built the tetrahedron without it first,
but and it looked like it needed something else to give it depth.
The sphere was one possible solution but I didn't know at first if it would fit.
Thankfully, when I cut it apart and put it in there ,it worked quite well...

How did you get the ball in there? Did you build around it?
The triangle is one of my favorite shapes. So simple yet so perfect, structurally as well as aesthetically.

I built most of the tetrahedron except one cross bar at the top,put the sphere in and carefully welded the last tube on . I put leather around the sphere to shield it from welding sparks.
