Description Another Burly Torc
This time I've ground a shoulder on the ends where the spirals start.
Forged 3/8ths stainless steel squarestock. And notice the enhanced camber.
Commissioned piece.

I really - REALLY - like this one a lot. Of course, while I know what camber means to the front end of a car, I'm not altogether sure what you're referring to here. Pretty fucking cool, in any event.

Camber here refers to the axial curve allowing it to conform more closely to the neck and shoulders. It's the same usage as in a discussion of the curve on skis.

very nice! is that square stock a solid bar or tube? from the deformation it looks like tube. I'd love to watch you make one of these.

I'd love to do a demo.
I guess I'm working up to that eventually.
This was solid square bar,but I regularly explore the same decorative possibilities with tubing:

I think cutting in those shoulders is a small but significant improvement...

I'm having much fun exploring these ancient forms and rediscovering how the Celts were able to make these advanced metal working forms as early as 800 years before Christ...
They were phenomenally talented metal workers.

I have always admired the workmanship from so long ago. Would love to work like that! Some day I will go way beyond what I do now, but for now I will stick with what I know. I love to work with wire, it is so relaxing and I never know ahead of time just exactly what I will end up with. No pre-conceived expectations.
I really admire your torque pieces. they are quite beautiful.
