Description On a trail at Bryce Canyon I found this tree, dead and baked by the sun, stripped down to the guts by the winds. decided to take the photo from a below view point because the dead branches almost look like roots also because I wanted to see the grains in the tree. came out well in my opinion, how you think the same.

I probably won't be able to say something that hasn't been said already, but I'll give you my thoughts:
I think it is a very good picture, the angle is well choses to give a "dead" tree movement and life, it makes it look powerful and you really feel small, when you look at it. I also think that the cropping is well done - making the branches touch the boarders was a good decision to add to the mighty impression you get of the tree.
I actually believe, though, that the picture would be even better, if there were a bit more highlights on the tree trunk - it's good that you decided to let the texture of it be viewable, but still I think it's not enough (although I have to admit, that it's probably not really possible to achieve the image I have in my mind with given tools in e.g. photoshop)
still a fav!

It was mid day so I had a hard time getting the light that I needed, always too bright. Of all the photos I took of this tree, this was the only one that came out that way I had hoped.

Photographing is sometimes just so hard, you can't really adjust the light or anything. But that is life.

Really good capture! The viewpoint was very well chosen, I think. It brings out the contrast between the sky and the black branches, which form several interesting shapes.

Faved again. I am going to have to spend more time in your gallery when I am not so tired.

Trees are one of my most cherished photographic subjects, and this picture is so amazing. I love the angle, the black and white, and the fact that it reminds me of something from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Wow, I like the your view of perspective on this, I also tend to favor black & white photos because sometimes they can speak volumes ove colored ones. It definitely has a dark theme to it but nice to look at all the same. Nice work!

This of course is nothing new to people with cameras, though I will say this
This (unlike most pictures of dead trees) came out great, I feel you lucked out
with the shape of the trees branches that look like roots giving it a great perspective
and the luck to capture a very filling cloud as well.
This is a great peice of photography in the sense of picture taking.
Very pleasing to look at.

i like the whole dead tree bit...there's a sense of poetry in it...a poetry with a negative "connotation" (duh?!)...nice angle, makes it a lot different from dead tree shots of other people..

Thanks a lot for the nice comment. I have found that different angles and placements instead of dead center can do wonders for my photography, like distinguising me from others thanks again.
