Zecora & Cheerilee’s Son
A little twinky zebra boy who suffers from epilepsy and anxiety. Despite his mothers turning to both holistic and Equestrian medicine neither have helped him much, and as he gets older and his condition gets worse his mothers grow more and more desperate. Zecora knows of one possible solution, but she also knows Cheerilee would never approve of it. However, after having to comfort her son through days of near non-stop episodes alone while Cheerilee was at work, Zecora finally had enough. Zecora explained the situation to Leon as best she could and they both agreed to start using the new cure in secret.
While it was no miracle cure it felt like one, especially at first. Leon when from having several seizures a day to one or two a week if he was lucky. The change was huge, he could attend school again and without the constant risk of an unexpected seizure, he felt less anxious in social situations. Everything seems to be looking up….the fact he and his mother had to go behind his mom’s back and now have to keep up the lie indefinitely is definitely not a big issue nor will it ever become one I’m sure!!
Leon is prone to long hours of brooding and always carries around a notebook to scribble down thoughts, feelings, observations, anything really. Because he has a tremor there’s no way for him to hold anything physically to write with, even if he was a unicorn his condition is neurological so any magic would also have a tremor. However, his notebook is a one of a kind magical notebook, given to Leon by his Aunt Mayor Mane. It’s a modernized version of an old Ponish diary: a magical book sailors and scientists would use to quickly take notes telepathically. It allows him to “write” things down in what looks like his natural handwriting. He can also sketch things in the notebook (one of the modern modifications of the device), which sounds much easier than it is. The process of learning how to draw and write using the notebook wasn’t easy, Leon had to “imagine” doing something step by step without physically doing it.
Notes:
- If you did an MRI scan on his brain while he’s writing in the notebook it would probably look similar to any other pony writing physically. Unfortunately, horses don’t really care about neurology so no one will ever find this out.
- The “mystery cure” is poison joke. The plant’s flowers actually have a lot of medicinal uses despite poison joke being illegal to own or grow outside of the Everfree Forest, which is the only place where the plant still grows naturally. Zecora lives in the forest to protect and monitor the population of poison joke there.
- Oleander picked on him a bit when they were younger. It was a short-lived relationship mainly because Oleander ended up going too far without realizing and inducing a seizure, which caused Cheerilee to realize what was going on. She still detests Oleander for it…not that she liked him much to begin with.
- Leon was born small and weak and his mothers were very protective of him because of that. He lived a very sheltered life, Cheerilee even homeschooled him until he was six and begged her to let him go to real school.
- His seizures are a result of brain damage he sustained as a result of birth asphyxia, which is when blood flow to the brain is decreased during birth. Leon was born prematurely, Cheerilee was the birth mother and the pregnancy was extremely difficult for her, she suffered from hypoxemia (low blood oxygen) for a large part of it.
- He has a tremor.

I've had this guy in the oven for awhile and I already have a bunch planned out for him. Super excited to show you all, I'm trying to be less self conscious for real this time. I really want to make doing art in some form my main source of income....however I can make that happen now as an adult. Might as well start with posting more!!! I've come up with a story I really feel proud of for my nextgen, something I feel is cohesive and interesting. I want my work to be distinctive and different so it stands out from all the other great nextgens out there. Hope y'all say tuned!!! I'm gonna try and update the old bios in this style when I get the chance which will probably be never....haha

most of it is pretty old. I have a lot of art I've never posted anywhere...in the vaults....
Zecora and Cheerilee have a pretty cool relationship I hope I'll have the time/energy to dedicate to at some point. In my verse Zecora is a plant scientist and Cheerilee was a lab tech before she became a teacher. They recognize each other at a Prance concert ....the rest is none of your business they're both VERY private.
