Detail of the "One Year" panel from my piece "Sinners".
Reference was from FMA chapter 24, and even though I'm not yet comfortable not sticking to references as closely as I can (still learning to draw and hopeless without references), I could not for the life of me get the hair right, so some alterations were made for my own sanity's sake. Dear little 11-year-old Ed had such doofy, difficult-to-draw hair... Ahem. Hopefully with more practice I won't have to stare at a reference until my eyes shrivel up and die.

But yeah, this scene with Ed and his brave-face for Al's sake right before the automail surgery just about killed me. Poor thing.
