Description This is a study I made this year for the courtyard of the "Alte Vogtei"- a 460 year old building at Lübeck-Travemünde in Germany located at the Baltic Sea.

The owner very often talked about the falling winds between the Alte Vogtei and the neighbour building that I must have felt inspired for a design like this...

This is stunning - I really wish I could see the setting!!
It sounds like the simple modern design would have made a lovely contrast with the old building

that curve is sooo sexy! btw if you want to have permanent curves with bass wood try to soak it in water for a day and then hold the curve in the shape you want and let it dry, you wont have much problems to glue it to the rest of the model later!

First of all thank you for this compliment... you've thought that I've used balsa for the curvy elements as well, but I made them of a cardboard which has a woodenlike colour, in Germany they call it "Finnpappe". I heard about your method of making balsa bendable, but I was in a quite experimental mood, therefor I simply had to be quick... that's the reason why...last but not least I've followed your link and found your playground design nice... Good idea!

Ah,now I see...you didn't think that I made this shelter parts of balsa, you made a recommendation for how to make it if I would like to... sometimes life can be quite complicated

I like what I see, but is there perhaps another pic giving a better understanding to the shape. Maybe move back from the object or turn to see a different perspective. (Oh, what is it for? just couriouis

Thank you for your comment... it's always so important to hear another opinion. Unfortunately the original piece remained in Germany, impossible for me to try out other perspectifs. Concerning the function: partly it should express the already mentioned falling winds (at the same time these objects should be a protection against them)and partly they will work as shelters for the visitors of the courtyard. I hope now things are more clearer...

A shelter for viitors, interesting. To bad it is in Germany. I think if there were more pictures available, we could understand and perhaps utilalize the concepts. Thank you for sharing.
