Description
Another character from Frank Herbert's Dune. He's the Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe and head of House Corrino. He will eventually lose everything to the hands of the messiah, Paul Atreides. He's said to have a thin face, light red hair and a hawkish profile, with cold eyes.

I went overboard with this character and added a staggering amount of detail. His throne is called the Golden Lion Throne and because I see a lot of Oriental influence in Dune I decided to discard the idea of having a Western style throne, going instead of a Mughal-like platform. The golden lions are based on the Brunshwick lion and those in the Fountain of the Lions in the Alhambra, in Granada. I always think Emperors and solar motiffs are a perfect fit, this the golden-like halo standing behind the throne, as the emperor himself was sacred. For the record, compare this to the sun of Arrakis acting as halo in Paul Atreides' portrait: one is a true chosen, the other, Corrino, is just pretending to be one surrounding himself with pomp. The very title, Padisha, made me think of the Mughal Empire and Persia, so I went with Indian and Persian influences to design the whole piece.
