Description Stanhopea tigrina
One of the favorite Orchids in my garden.
The Tiger Orchid.
Range from Mexico to Brazil.
They look like strange alien critters.

They are weird in more ways than one!
I have to grow them in a mass of hanging coconut matting.
Because the flowers emerge from "below" the plant!!!!!!
How cool is that!

This is stunning! I love orchids too ... and I agree they do look like something from another world ... I always imagine the flowers in Day of the Triffids to look like some VERY EXOTIC Orchid!

Oh yes!
They are so cool and exotic and erotic.
The climate here is perfect to grow them wild in the garden.
This one could be a Trifid easily I think.
Just add some teeth!!!
