Watercolour on Fabriano Uno 300 g hot-pressed40 x 50 cm
Some more pretty flowers from Malapascua Island - there was a whole hedge of them, a beautiful sight! I'd never before seen these and despite looking through all my gardening books I wasn't able to find out what they are called.
Here's a short description of the plant - maybe some other "tropical gardener" knows:
Single stalks with some branches, about 7 - 8 feet high;
big heart-shaped leaves, slightly elongated;
bell-shaped flowers the size of a hand from mauve to nearly white.

A beautiful depiction. I may have seen these in Texas growing in my moms garden (the description sounds right) but I do not know the name of them either.

I have no delusions of being a "great painter" and my works are neither thought-provoking nor do they try to convey any message - except maybe my love of Nature. My paintings are just something nice (and hopefully well-executed) to rest your eyes on. I'm having lots of fun painting them, and if you like looking at them.... well, then I've achieved my purpose.
So - I'll keep painting them.... and you keep

The power is "just something nice" my dear Pat and very skilled and passionate...that conveys something deeper than a "message or thought-provoking blablabla".. To look at something just so beautiful is all that is needed and filling my heart with 100% joy. That is what you do and you achieve your purpose.

Yes, the flowers do look like petunias and morning glories - "bells" all of them, but the plant is totally different; high (7 feet) upright stalks, a bit like Oleander. Maybe one day I'll find out what this mystery plant is called.....

True, the flowers do look a bit like Morning Glories, but the plant is totally different. It's not a creeper but grows upright - like Oleander for example.

As for being scented - no, they aren't, but then very few tropical flowers are, it might surprise you to know - contrary to what one often reads in books, like the "heady scent of the orchids" and similar stuff = total hogwash, trust me!

oh, i know... so often i stick my nose in some pretty flower, certain it will be fragrant, only to end up with orange powder coating my schnazz, and no good scent to reward me :'(
