Yeah, I know I rarely comment; I've been pretty busy and I tend to go through lots of deviations, so I just fave and run. x3
I've been wondering for awhile, do you use special brushes for your backgrounds or just the Photoshop defaults?

Err I use all kinds of brushes. I use default brushes, I make brushes myself and I also use downloaded brushes

Oh it's pretty easy to make your own
You just open a new file and paint the kid of brush you want in a pure black. Then you go to edit -> Define brush preset and then you Have your very own brush
After that you can always play with the settings to make it look good
