Description This is a male monarch butterfly that I followed around for about an hour before he would let me anywhere near him to get a good shot. Its not the best but I am happy I got what a got.

Yours (btw I really like that ..have to fav it.... ) is a male. You can clearly see the two spots on his lower wings. They are hormone patches.

wow it's a very good shot , But I ask myself a question: how one does to know if this is a male or a Female one?

Also if you check out this site [link] there are two pics on there where you can clearly see that bugle in the vein on the male compared to the female.

If you look at the bottom wing. May be kind of hard to see but on one of the black veins coming down you can see there is a small bugle in the vein? Only the males have that. Females don't.
