Lightning in Norman, Oklahoma, on July 11, 2013. Six-image stack.I've been meaning to put this stack together for months but never got around to it because I didn't think it would work. Last night, the Internet went down for three hours, so I had nothing but time to work with. Surprisingly, Photoshop actually stacked this pretty well, and the results came out far better than I expected. The Internet should go down more often!

These bolts all happened at different times over the span of about fifteen minutes, and we don't usually get big strikes like these from the tops of storms. Those are actually pretty rare to see, and even more rare to capture. Usually they're just the "smaller" bolts from the bottoms of the storms. These big strikes, classified as "positive" lightning, are much stronger and more dangerous (since they strike so far away from the actual storm). Definitely scary and not something you want to mess with!
