Description I am wanting to create some angels for use in various manips, and particularly now for the holidays. I think it turned out ok for my first attempt at an angel. I used the statue as a guide then painted her and created the wings and halo. I thought this one was nice enough to make a stand alone manip from.

Thank you very much. I think the angel will come in handy for several manips.

Thank you. I wasn't sure how it would turn out. It looks different of course without all the textures I used to make it a stand alone, but I can use this angel in Christmas cards and other projects that might happen along.

Lovely work Charlie! It's very hard to make a statue come to life. Great job.

(squeals!) Thank you! I played and played with that thing, and decided against keeping the flowers there, because I might not want them in every piece I do, and I could add in flowers later. The skin was the toughest part.

You're welcome. I've done a few statues myself, but never posted, because they weren't good enough. So I know all the work you put in it. I'm still working on improving. Painting is not my forte.

I bet you would do it wonderfully. I like to paint, and it's just tricks like manips. Do you have a wacom tablet? That makes it so much easier than using a mouse.

But of course! Don't know what I ever did before I had my tablet! I can do it, just not well.

I'm not sure how I painted without one before either, but I did! And guess what, Ivey! I've made an entry for your contest! An idea hit me, so I went with it! yayyyyyyyyyy!

I like the way you put the clouds together for a background!

She looks much different of course without all the textures .. she will be very "usable" for other projects. I like having pieces that I can stick back for future use in other manips, but she turned out pretty nice, that is for a statue turned to more life like.
I've seen paintings in old works, even in my Bible with clouds as backdrops and I wanted the red color in there, it gives it more of a above the "hell" look. More like the old painters used.
Oh, and thank you for sending me that little girl doing the cartwheel. I've been working on one of her. I'd really appreciate it if you would critique it when I do post it.

Thank you very much. I would like to get some skin textures, to save myself the painting but for now this is all I have to work with is paint.

You are most welcome. The painting is half the fun, along with the challenge in this type of work I have to say, although I sometimes use a Poser model in my art (postworked), I've really been enjoying using it only as a reference for painting. I find painting so therapeutic for some reason (I think its the focus, takes me away from my thoughts for a while Keep up the great work Charlie!

it certainly does require focus, although I'm all for anything that helps it out and skin textures could surely do that.

I've never thought about actually getting skin textures. I wonder if there are any on offer?

I wouldn't know. But many poser people use them. You do posers don't you? Aren't they available?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ImaginedMoments In reply to PaintedOnMySoul [2007-11-26 18:43:26 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but I've never used them to apply to an artwork, I've only used them in Poser itself on a model. Perhaps that is what you originally meant and I misunderstood

PaintedOnMySoul In reply to ImaginedMoments [2007-11-26 19:05:35 +0000 UTC]

No, I meant use them in an artwork. Is it possible to save the texture, to use in the artwork itself?

ImaginedMoments In reply to PaintedOnMySoul [2007-11-26 19:47:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't believe so because the textures come in a shape ready to be mapped to the model (at least that's all I have been able to find in the relevant folders). Picture someone's skin taken from their body and laid flat, that is what the textures look like. I hope that makes sense, lol ...... I'm off to classes, have a great day!

was more of a chore than I bargained for initially. Turning a statue into something more was a challenge.
