Description Fist of all... Can you see it? My laptop can't see it. I will make it brighter if it's a problem for you.
------------------------------------------------------

Of all the mermaid stories I've heard, my favorites would have to be the ones where they drown sailors. Not that I don't like The Little Mermaid, mind you. Speaking of which, part of the idea came from watching that movie. I remember thinking; no way is the water that clear at the bottom of the ocean.
And viola!

Also, it was always meant to be pretty simple. I wanted to see what kind of depth and atmosphere I could get with flat colours and no shading.
I'm actually quite happy with it.

Drawn by hand, colours and background done in Lexmark Photo Editor.

...I believe Moe alrady expressed exactly what I was intending to say (How typhical for her ), but i'll say it anyway: great athmosphere, it looks exactly like a deep underwater canyon filled with murky water. A bit creepy too, though only in a good way

Those sneaky sisters, reading your mind, like that.
And thank you! Creepy's always good with me. ^_^

Have you ever read the original little mermaid by Mr Hans Andersen? I did and that's why i never realli liked the movie that was based on it. It ruined it to me. This is excatly how i imagined the bottom of the ocean to look like when i was reading it. I do love the fish and the snake around hair tail

I've never actually read it, even though I really, really want to. I have, however, seen a relatively faithful film adaptation. (Minus the soul-thing.)
And I've never really compared the Disney and original versions, to me they'll always be two separate stories.

Thanks! I was aiming for some realism in all that abstracty-ness. ^_^

ooh pretty. yes mermaid stories about drowning sailors are always amusing. however the Little Mermaid is gorgeous because of it's definitely-couldn't-happen-but-wouldn't-it-be-great-if-it-could tendencies! that's what made Disney awesome.

Yes, I know! The unlikeliness, but oh-so-fluffy made the movie great. I remember watching a faithful adaptation of the story and it got me all depressed. Disney=happy.
