Description Just a pinch of creepy -- this is my take on the Cheshire Cat  
A special request commission piece created by hand from polymer clay with delicate wire support in legs, and tail.  Ball-jointed head/neck enables this tiny cat to rotate its head in various pose, as well as pose his tail.  After curing, this cat was dressed in a permanent coat of natural and hand-dyed alpaca fibers.  Coat consists of alternating colors placed layer by layer using scissors, tweezers and glue.  Other features include: glossy green eyes, tiny paw pads and individually set whiskers.  Cup of tea is optional...

I had not heard the Finnish translation.  It translates willow tree road (paju tee) in Estonian

I think the willow tree belongs to the Salix genus
Estonian sounds funny to a swedish speaking Finn like me. It's like a slightly comical twist of Finnish
In Finnish "tee" is tea and "tie" is road. "Paju" means the Salix genus of trees.

I do not speak Estonian, but agree it is closer to the Finnish language.  My husband is first generation here in the states, but his Estonian roots are old.  The male line in his family actually changed their surname in the early 1900s as a patriotic stand against the Russian invasion of their country.  When individuals first see or hear the name Pajutee, they tend to confuse it with the native American tribe here in the U.S. (Paiute).

Ah, it was Estonian. I also thought it might have been native american in origin

We were more fortunate than Estonia. We declared independence in 1917 as a democratic republic and have managed to stay so. 1809-1917 we were an autonomous Grand Duchy of the Russian Empire and before that a part of the Kingdom of Sweden.
A lot of my ancestors went to USA and Canada in the 1800's and early 1900's.

Thank you -- yes, this one had some wild color. I found the perfect purple dyed alpaca, and could not resist using it on this cat.

Being a huge fan of the Cheshire Cat, I ADORE this!! It looks like Whoopie Goldberg's portrayal of the Cheshire Cat with fur patterns similar to Disney's 1951 version combined with your own fantastic take on the character! Whoever ended up with this is really lucky!

Thanks   I had not thought about the older Disney colors, but choose the bright purple and grey as it was commissioned to compliment a similiar themed roombox.  The grinning face was inspired by an illustration by Arthur Rackham.
